Rwandan Peacekeepers (RWANBATT-3, RWANBATT-1 and Rwanda Aviation Unit 11) serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in collaboration with Juba City Council leadership and local population, on Saturday, conducted community “Umuganda” during which they planted trees, provided medical services focusing on anti-Malaria Campaign and cleaning areas of Muniki block council, Juba City.
Also present were the Sector Juba Commander, Brig Gen Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of Muniki Block Council, Timo Wani Marcelino, Rwandan Community in South Sudan, members of South Sudan Waste Management Union, Green Youth Empowerment among others.
After the community work which attracted more than 1000 people, Rwandan Medical Team in collaboration with Society for Family Health in South Sudan (SFH) provided free medical services by testing and treating Malaria for Muniki community whereby 200 residents were treated.
Rwanbatt-3 Contingent Commander, Col Bertin Mukasa CYUBAHIRO explained the significance of Umuganda as a homegrown solution where people come together to work for the community.
