

An accident from 2014 on the Juba - Nimule road (VOA)
A devastating road accident in Twic East County, Jonglei State of South Sudan, resulted in the loss of three lives, with seven others sustaining injuries, according to local officials.
The incident took place on Thursday morning when a truck carrying passengers from Duk County overturned in the Malualgem area of Nyuak Payam.
Maj. Gen. Samuel Bidik Puot, the state traffic police commissioner, provided details of the incident in an interview with Radio Tamazuj. He stated, “At approximately 11 am, the vehicle, which was transporting several individuals from Poktap, overturned on the Malualgem road. Tragically, three people lost their lives in the accident, while seven others were injured.”
The injured victims have been transported to Bor State Hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Panyagoor for burial.
Deng Akwei, the county executive director, confirmed that security forces were promptly dispatched to rescue those involved in the accident. He also mentioned that three individuals with critical injuries were successfully rescued and evacuated for further medical attention.
“Our team transported the deceased individuals to Poktap for their burial,” he added.
Expressing his grief, Peter Maluil, a local youth leader, described the incident as a tragedy. “The Ural truck was carrying more than ten people from Poktap town when it overturned at Malualgem. Sadly, three people lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries. The injured individuals have been transferred to Panyagoor, where they are currently receiving medical treatment,” he explained.
