The South Sudan Embassy has asked South Sudanese nationals living in Uganda to return home and invest in agriculture and industry since peace has returned to their country.
Speaking at their 40th Liberation Anniversary Celebrations, Amb. Simon Juach Deng the country’s envoy has appealed to South Sudanese and citizens of neighboring countries to go and invest in South Sudan because it is now peaceful.
Tuesday’s celebrations are in commemoration of the day South Sudan seceded from Sudan also known following a fight for cessation that started in 1955 when South Sudan rebelled against Khartoum during the Anyanya rebellion.
Juach says the country is largely peaceful apart from some small armed groups that occasionally cause economic sabotage by ambushing traders and robbing them of their merchandise.
He explains that 67 percent of South Sudan is arable land but only 4 percent of it is being used and yet it has opportunities in agriculture, agro industrialization electricity generation, petroleum mining, and other endless opportunities that other East African countries should embrace to realize peace and stability in the region.
