South Sudan Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manime, has reiterated the government's commitment to peace with the SPLM-IO Kit-Gwang faction following the signing of the two agreements in Khartoum last month.
The government signed two separate agreements with the SPLM-IO splinter group under Simon Gatwech Dual and the Agwelek Division of the Kit-Gwang faction under General Johnson Olony.
Kiir's security advisor Gatluak has been in Khartoum since early January to mediate the peace process between the government and the Kit-Gwang group leading to the signing of the Khartoum Peace Agreement.
Upon his arrival at Juba International Airport on Tuesday, Gatluak reiterated Kiir's commitment to keeping peace in the country.
"The Government of South Sudan under the leadership of General Salva Kiir Mayardit is committed to peace and stability across the country," he stated. "President Kiir doesn't want the people of South Sudan to die anymore. And that is why he directed us to bring back Kit-Gwang faction for the sake of peace and development across the country."
Gatluak was accompanied by a government delegation including Unity State governor Joseph Monytuil Wejang.
A delegation of military officers of the SPLM-IO Kit-Gwang faction also arrived in Juba yesterday to follow up on the implementation of the Khartoum Peace Agreement.
