Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday congratulated Mayiik Ayii Deng on becoming the new foreign minister of South Sudan.
Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and South Sudan, Wang said he is ready to work with Deng to strengthen communication and cooperation between the two foreign ministries and promote closer communication and coordination on international and regional affairs to advance bilateral ties.
Two weeks ago, South Sudan's President Salva Kiir fired foreign minister[1] Beatrice Khamisa Wani, replacing her with Deng, who once served as minister for presidential affairs.
