Luanda — The minister of Youth and Sports of South Sudan, Cirino Hiteng Ofuho Thursday in Luanda said that his country is interested in cooperating specifically in basketball for considering Angola the greatest power on the African continent.
Speaking to the press after a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, Gonçalves Muandumba, the South Sudanese official said that the perspective of his government is that athletes benefit from temporary training in national clubs, returning after reaching the desired performances.
The adapted sports and handball were also identified as possible areas of cooperation, according to Cirino Hiteng Ofuho who is in Luanda with a delegation that signed Wednesday a verbal agreement that defines the lines of cooperation between both African countries.
The minister of Sports of South Sudan, the youngest African State which achieved its independence on July 9, 2011, also expressed satisfaction for the development of football and the infrastructure in Angola.
"I was in the new centrality (Kilamba City) and I saw a large, modern stadium," he said, referring to the November 11 Stadium, the largest of the four infrastructures built during the CAN2010, with a capacity for 50,000 spectators.
In his turn, the Angolan minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, said that Angola is receptive to cooperation, believing that this will happen depending on the political will of the two States.
He noted that besides basketball south Sudan is interested in an exchange at the level of training of trainers of handball, adapted sports and youth affairs.
During the meeting between the ministers, which also served to exchange experience, Muandumba explained to his counterpart ongoing projects, especially community sports centres, development of women's sports for the disabled and the revival of school sport.
