South Sudan seeks to enhance cultural exchanges with China

South Sudan seeks to increase cultural exchanges with China in order to boost people to people relations and mutual understanding as well as cooperation between the two countries, a senior member of the South Sudan-China Friendship Association said Saturday.

Reuben Kuany Dut, Executive Secretary of the South Sudan-China Friendship Association, said the cultural exchanges will bring the peoples of the two countries together and further foster cooperation in various fields.

He said the organization has initiated a project to build an auditorium in the capital, Juba where joint South Sudanese and Chinese cultural activities will be hosted.

Kuany revealed that since the launch of the organization some eight months ago, over 50 people have signed up for membership, adding that the number is growing steadily as many South Sudanese traders, students and investors realize the benefits of close cooperation with their Chinese counterparts.

Kuany added that the organization is also spearheading a project to establish teaching of Chinese in the five public universities in South Sudan.

He said introduction of the Chinese language will help boost trade and cooperation among the peoples of the countries since they have a common language for interaction.

Apart from advancing cultural understanding, Kuany said the association has embarked on helping Chinese and South Sudanese investors to form joint ventures in different sectors as a way of deepening trade between Juba and Beijing.

“We are looking forward to bringing the two business communities together so that they also help one another because we have the natural resources and the market, and the Chinese have the technology and capital, which will boost trade,” he said. Enditem
