A South Sudanese man, who authorities say is 29, but posed as a Windsor high school student, has been granted release from jail.
Jonathan Nicola attended an early detention review on Monday at the Immigration Holding Centre in Windsor.
Now that he's being released from custody, he must live with the bondsman who put up $7,000.
Defence lawyer Frank Miller says the next step is collecting evidence before an exclusion hearing date, which is to be determined.
Nicola has been in the South West Detention Centre since his arrest by Canada Border Services Agency last month.
The agency says Nicola misrepresented the material facts on his application for a study permit into the country.
