The Ministry of ICT & Postal Services of the Republic of South Sudan held a high-level meeting on March 2, 2026, in Juba to address pressing challenges in the country’s telecommunications sector. ICT Minister Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny convened with the CEOs of major mobile network operators, including MTN South Sudan, Digitel, and Zain, to discuss strategic and operational issues affecting the industry.
Key topics of discussion included taxation, shipment delays, foreign exchange constraints, SIM card clearance, and the promotion of digital and electronic payments. Minister Ateny emphasized the importance of prioritizing digital transactions, aligning tariffs across operators, and fostering stronger collaboration to drive the growth and sustainability of South Sudan’s telecom sector.
The meeting also featured participation from the National Communication Authority, represented by Director General Rizik Dominic Samuel, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing sectoral challenges and supporting a more robust digital ecosystem.
