The Apostolic Church Ministry in Juba on Saturday ordained ten new pastors, among them Rev. Mohamed Adam, a former Muslim from the Darfur Christian Assembly.
Speaking during the ordination ceremony, Bishop Elbager Mohamed of the Darfur Christian Assembly in the Gorom refugee camp expressed gratitude to the Government of South Sudan for upholding freedom of worship.
Bishop Elbager revealed that 153 Muslims converted to Christianity in the Gorom refugee camp last year. This year, he said, the number has risen significantly to 636.
He noted that many of those who embraced Christianity came from prominent Islamic families, including sons of sheikhs, and made their decision out of personal conviction.
Prophet Mark Ngor of the Apostolic Church Ministry welcomed the Darfur Christian Assembly’s partnership in spreading the Gospel, highlighting the unity within the Christian faith.
“In Christianity, there is no tribalism or discrimination in worship — we pray to one God,” he said.
Leaders of the Darfur Christian Assembly stated that they are committed to continuing their mission by sharing the Gospel in the Darfur region and across Sudan.
