Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday ordered to provide all possible means of support to the Sudanese people following severe flooding which swept several regions of Sudan.
The Egyptian state agencies operated a line containing foodstuffs, medicines, humanitarian and medical aid, with a total of 90 trucks.
Sisi’s orders represent Egypt’s desire to aid Sudan in its time of need and as an extension of the already strong Egyptian-Sudanese relations, which are highly respected on both sides.
Constant aid
Egypt has previously dispatched aid whenever Sudan is in crisis.
A military transport plane took took off from East Cairo Air Base heading to Juba International Airport in South Sudan earlier in January[1] loaded with large quantities of medical and humanitarian aid, in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent.
In December 2021[2], an Egyptian military transport plane took off from East Cairo Air Base heading to Juba Airport, the capital of South Sudan, carrying tons of medical and pharmaceutical aid provided by the Ministry of Health and Population to help alleviate South Sudan’s burdens.
Officials from South Sudan expressed their full appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to support African nations in need, and has deepened the long-standing historical relations between the nations.
And in July 2021, Egypt began preparations[3] to implement a malaria control project in South Sudan, funded by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).
By September 2021[4] Egypt sent a second shipment of humanitarian aid to Sudan, as part of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s directive to provide support to Sudan in confronting its ongoing internal issues.
Two military transport planes took off from East Cairo Air Base heading to Khartoum International Airport carrying tons of humanitarian aid.
The aid included large quantities of food and blankets provided by the Defense Ministry and the Egyptian Red Crescent.
Sudanese officials stressed their appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to help the Sudanese people, a move that strengthens the ties between the two countries.
