Sheep held by police officer in Sudan/Facebook/@drugfreekashmir
We have heard about some crazy freak accidents, but this one seems very bizarre.
Ever heard of an animal serving time for attacking a person?
"A ram has been sentenced to three years in jail for allegedly attacking and head-butting an old woman to death in South Sudan, local media reported." (Gulf News[1])
The value placed on any life is important, so to hear that someone lost their life is always heart-breaking.
We are glad that death was not applied in the case, as we hear of stories where animals get put down when they attack humans.
The ram had attacked the woman and butted her on the chest several times before she died. According to customary law in the district, "any pet that kills a person is awarded as compensation to the family of the deceased." (Gulf News[2])
The local court in Rumbek City also ruled that the owner of the sheep must give five cows to the bereaved family as compensation for the death of their family member.
