South Sudan have kicked off their preparation for the double-tier against Uganda in the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.
South Sudan will face Uganda on November 9 in Kampala thereafter they will host the return leg on November 17.
With the sports sector in the country still under lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, it's not yet known when the suspension will be lifted.
However, for South Sudan, their National COVID-19 Taskforce has cleared their team to start training ahead of qualifiers, according to Daniel Alul, the spokesperson for South Sudan Football Association (SSFA).
In the meeting between both parties, it was resolved that the national team's players will undergo COVID-19 tests which had been scheduled for Thursday before joining the camp for training to prepare for the friendly match against Cameroon on October 10 in Yaoundé.
Former Vipers winger Tito Okello who recently joined Kenyan giants Gor Mahia is one of the players called to the South Sudan national team including Ivan Wani (Busoga United), URA FC goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian and Mbarara City FC striker Makueth.
The Cranes team are top of Group B with four points from two games followed by Burkina Faso, Malawi in third while South Sudan is at the bottom. Cranes have a chance to make it to their third consecutive AFCON finals that will be hosted by Cameroon in January 2022.
