South Sudan has 16 different mineral types and has issued 100 licenses to various international mining houses. Although there is currently no physical mining activity taking place (due to start soon) there is also no infrastructure to support this activity – no roads and no railways. The Minister and I had a great coffee with the editor session – and I think I managed to convince him that rail would be the best solution to unlock economic benefits around their mining activities. Considering that this is essentially a "ground zero", it is the perfect opportunity to make your mark, even if the risk may be high or as noted in the recent 2019 African Risk map, extremely high. I believe if you have the appetite there is huge potential and with that, comes profit.
