Historical background can confirm that Collo is single nation for it speaks one language which is Collo language. One upon time the British district officer in Kodok during Anglo-Egyptian rule, summoned Collo king to confirm to him the claim that Collo is single nation. In this regard the king called upon his subjects to come to ''Pa chod'' (Pachodo), place of no horns, other people argued that in Pachodo, there were plenty of cattle without horns.
But the right interpretation was that Pa chod was the place of peace, whereby all problems within Collo nation is settle there by the king and his chiefs. When Collo from different localities came to Pa chod, the district officer charged them to give him evidence which uphold their being single entity. They sang a song that everyone was able to sing. Indeed, that was great proved to the district officer that confirmed that Collo is one entity. Another incident occurred when Collo rath (King) was forced by exploited ruler to give sons from his subjective people as slaves. In this juncture the Collo king used right wisdom by tell British ruler to take an egg from hen, when the British district officer did that the hen bitted him. The Collo king said to the British ruler, yes I am the king over all Collo but it is not easy for me to take a son from any one without problem and this is what you exactly experienced with hen.
Being one entity does not means no differences in our perceptions, understanding in the matters affecting our people, in our interpretations of the situation, in the way we say the things that should be done in particular ways, which we think as suitable in our imagination that may not be true or misunderstood by others. This is truly normal for every human being under the sun. May personal and confidential expression is that the different opinions come as result of uniqueness of each individual, which imply that we are not photocopies but we are true one. It is necessary and important to appreciate different opinions. For it makes us to think deeply and thoroughly and come out with concrete beneficial result after we have exhausted that opinions, then we can move forward and stand firm as unit.
If a person differs with your idea that does necessarily mean that a person is your opponent. The real issue is that person might not understand the things in the way you see it. Our problem is that we don't have patience spirit to influence people until they understand the point we want to bring to their attention. Therefore, we usually intent to imposed our ideas on others by force and this is the beginning of the conflict.
The essential way to avoid the conflict within one entity likes Collo is that: we must be good listeners; we must carefully diagnose the issues correctly before we make any comments; we must be objective in our analysis to any situation and also avoiding negative criticism for sake of criticism, in order to destroy the image of the person you may think as your opponent. To me such people who behave in that way are weak and low esteem people or inferior complex people, who intent to destroy their opponents with destructive lies as the only strategy that they may use for reaching the leadership position. Well, some may reach to the leadership position wrongly but when people discovered their lies, then automatically they will loss their leadership's creditability, and they will not be regard again by the people whom they have cheated as outstanding leader that people can admire at.
To be admirable leaders, we must appreciated what others had don't even if we differ with them, I think when you praise what your opponents does, does not mean you are weak, but that may imply you are objective and credential stable leader who can not come up to leaders position by exposing opponents weakness negatively.
Having one hundred clans within Collo nation does make us different, because we have one king and one language, which united us and in addition to that we confess Christ faith, which is the faith of love and brother keeper, or sacrificial faith for others benefit. I assumed that division among us emerged as result of segregation mentality being practice by some of us. For example new graduate student approach your office with his qualification looking for appointment, usually instead of assessing his document you begin to question about his family lines as kind of screening method to exclude this innocent student. Can you imagine what will be the feeling of this young man about you/? Let examine what the Bible says: ''if you know the right thing and you failed to do it, is a sin in the sight of God'' (James 4:17)
Today it seems that we have been infected by culture of divide and rule which dominated Sudan for so long. Critically let question ourselves where are we going with this deep unproductive division that only uphold the enemy? Do we know that the outcome of our division is doom to our nation? The family that is divided is very weak and unstable and can not withstand out side inversion. The truth of matter is this if Ocollo killed a person from other ethnic community, this community will not look for clan that killed their belong member but they will just kill any Ocollo for that matter, then if this is the case how can we interpreted this dichotomy position?
Presumably even if we accepted the concept of Collo being diversity community, can we not coordinate our goals and objectives for progress and prosperity of the Collo nation?
I personal thought that our leadership aspiration was intended to liberate Collo nation from forces that enslave it for century, but today our leadership ambition seems to destroy Collo nation and Collo seems to marginalize itself. What is wrong with us? Are we not applying the proverb which says kill ''abat with abet '' when they finish eliminating themselves, then the exploiter that we executed his agenda will come to get rid of the remaining one, after that we become inactive or passive and subjective to the master minded. Indeed, we will remain slaves for life.
Conclusion:
Collo is one entity that can not be divided for self-interest. Every leader who aspire for leadership position must bear in mind that he/ she is just servant who wish to serve his nation, and must notice that he/she is not the master because we done have two masters but only one. Our participation must be for development of Collo nation, let be good example for our young generations. Let put behind our personal differences and begin to work in collaboration for Collo prosperity. Let avoid unethical criticism that will deepen the gap between us and let be subjective in our approach to the matter concerning Collo nation, because this nation is not your property or my property but the property of whole entire Collo community.
