Adhydhing Solidarity Association
Important Declaration
To loyal people of South Sudan, with great regret we came across the declaration issued on 21 June 2013, by so called Youth Association of Khurfulus in Juba. After we read and studied it, we wish to give following clarifications.
First, before we entered into thoroughly respond to the subject, we would like to express our gratitude to the National Government for the role they played, under leadership First Lieutenant President Salva Kiir Mayerdid. Also, we want to acknowledge the effective role accomplished by the Government of Upper Nile State, under leadership of Governor, Ustaz Simon Kon Puach and his deputy, General John Ebo Manto and distinguish ministerial position holders and members of legislative Assembly of Malakal.
Again, we don’t want to sideline victorious role executed by patriotic Army of Great Upper Nile, under leadership of General Johnson Bilo and big role played by brigadier Michael Wal, the commander of Division One, infantry battalion of Jamos.
Here, we want to stress our thank for the assistance they offered to us for security which enable us to accomplish the burial process of late Jaldwong James Ogilo Agor peaceful in his birth place, the former minister of Housing, Transport of Regional Government of South Sudan.
Second, in respond to the declaration mentioned above, we want to make it clear to the people of South Sudan in the following orders:
1. We want to charge the so called Youth Association of Khurfulus to consult well known history of the old Sudan to know the borders between Provinces of Great Upper Nile according to map of 1/1/1956
2. Pigio is the name of Small River constantly flows from Obay village and confluence into Sobat River in Obango (Canal), and it is not the name of specific place as mentioned in the declaration.
3. Adhydhing village is composed of three areas namely Obango (Canal), Apew and Leli in which late James Ogilo was buried and has no direct geographical and administrative boundary with Dinka Lwach(Khurfulus), Rwot, Pawany and Thoy, but it had border with Pathor (Chango) on south east and Obay on south west. Dinka Lwach has boundary with Pajor and Obay at distance of seven miles away from Sobat River.
4. The Decree issued by the President of the Government of South Sudan to change the name of Khurfulus County to Pigio was kind of convincing solution to resolve the conflict between rivalry Dinka communities, namely, Thoy (belong to Atar)), and Lwach (belong to Khurfulus). The Degree was not meant to annex Chollo land to the Pigio County. Noticeable that Degree was lawful rejected by the whole Chollo communities in general and Adhydhing in particular and it was challenged by our hero late James Ogilo Agor because it is not in line with the map of boundary 1/1/1956. In case if people accepted the Degree in disputable manner, does it means that the area could be annexed to Jonglei State without it inhabitants? Moreover, in case people argued and supposed to accept that the boundary between Upper Nile and Jonglei is White Nile in eastern side and Sobat River in western side, why not all villages of Upper Nile in western part of Sobat River were not annexed to Jonglei State such as beliet County i.e Abwong, Kopiet and Adong, also villages belong to Nasir and Ulang in western side of Sobat River are not annexed to Jonglei State, and why Jonglei State is concentrated only on Chollo lands such as Nyajwat, Dor, Dyel, Atar (Pakwar), Kaldak, Adhydhing, Pathor (Chango), Pajor, Ogot and Andakdier as example.
As result of occupation of Leli village by previous militia under Thomas Mabor, who changed the name Leli to ‘’Wach Mabor’’. The people of Adhydhing were unable to return to their land because of insecurity. In this connection, we felt that it is necessary to consult the government of state to help in provision of security for burial of late James Ogilo Agor in his birth place as he charged the family. In fact he was not buried in ‘’Wond Arop’’ as it appeared in the declaration of the so called Youth Association of Khurfulus in Juba.
Clarification about incident that took place in relate to burial:
On 15 June 2013, People of Adhydhing when to Leli village to dig a grave for late James Ogilo. When they reached to side, the disable commander by named colonel Machar Puot Nyak and his guards well army with weapons assaulted and beat people under gun threat and four people were injured from members of Adhydhing community, and their names are as follows: Chol Adyeng, Legal Advisor Dawod Othwon, Provider from Wild Life Forces Ojwok Mol Yor, Othwon Aban Chan, a police man.
After that cruel assault people when back to Malakal and reported the incident to the government of state that coordinate the matter with national government in Juba. Through their coordination they provided the forces from brilliant SPLA soldiers from Division One, under commander brigadier, Michael Wal, who lead protection and supervision of the burial process, and it was not certain individuals from SPLA as appeared in falsify declaration
5. It appeared in declaration in paragraph four the statements which claimed that they have no objection for burying anyone among the son of this nation in that place, but only they need to obtain the permission from leadership of the area. Is it logic for owner of the land to take permission from invaders to allow him to bury his dead one in their own land? We want to inform the readers that Leli village has no single Dinka living there; the only people who are living there are disabled SPLA soldiers on temporal bases
6. It appeared in declaration that they need peaceful coexisting and harmony living between ethnic compositions in the area. If their argument is true why do they refuse the burial of son of land in his birth place, are they not contradicting themselves?
7. Chollo communities had fought devastative war against Turkish and Mahdi and fought liberated war for south Sudan in Anya Anya and SPLA/ SPLM, and will never accept a defeat, no manhood language will shaken our position you should understand that, and we would like to assure the so called Youth Association of Khurfulus in Juba that their dream of invading the land will not be attainable in western side of Sobat River by any mean. In other hand we believed in negotiation to reach peaceful solution if the second party is willing to hearken to voice of
In order to avoid conflict and clashes between communities, we recommended the followings:
- It is important and must for the National Government to stop those who plan to confiscate the land of other peoples
- Immediate removal of the disable soldiers from Adhydhing and other Chollo lands to their home towns, that may give chance to Chollo communities to return back to their villages to start a new life
- We request the National Government and the Council of State to conduct a conference between Upper Nile and Jonglei state to determine the border between them, as it was stipulated in Trovisional Constitution of South Sudan of year 2011, which confirmed the boundary of state stipulated in constitution of Independent old Sudan 1/1/1956
- We request the Governor of Jonglei State to removal the Commissioner of Pigio County the so called Abel Makol Ayang , because he is true instigator of the conflict, insecurity and lack of stability in the area.
- In order to obtain the peace, stability and peaceful coexisting among different communities, the National Government must takes this problem seriously and must takes special concern and commitment to resolve this holding case to an end, so that we should not reach to state of Abyei, to experience whatbetween Masieria and Dinka Ngok.
Long live People of South Sudan
Long live Chollo Kingdom freely and united
Long live Adhydhing Solidarity Association
