I have registered myself as an online member of Pachodo.org website in order to acquaint myself with some of Chollo cultural aspects which I might not know but to my dismay when ever I logon to www.pachodo.org website all I get there are non-other then the political articles from our young politicians who are tearing each other with their knowledge of political hatred which is helping to exacerbate the wounds of the partition that our politicians have sowed in our hearts.
Since the Sudan People's Liberation Movement suspended its ministers and advisers complaining of Khartoum holding up implementation of the 2005 peace agreement, particularly the provisions defining the border between north and south-- a sensitive issue because the border runs through some of the country's best oil-producing regions. Pachodo.org is again becoming another battle field for the groups (the frogs and the Komodo dragon) who are tearing each other apart in support of their different political leaders/masters. Recently there was an issue of Fashoda County lacking qualified teachers to teach English curriculum and nobody ever dear to comments on it or even response, but if an article on political issue is posted it doesn?t even take an hour before the arguments start up here and there. Fashoda County lacks qualified teachers to teach
International officials have been warning for months that north-south peace deal is in danger of collapsing -- a crisis that has been largely been overshadowed by efforts to end Sudan's biggest current conflict, the bloodshed in the western region of Darfur. Observers warn that renewed war between the north and south would throw all of Sudan into turmoil. "The SPLM has recalled all ministers and all presidential advisers to the government of national unity," the party's secretary-general Pagan Amum told The Associated Press in Juba, which serves as the south's capital. Let?s take for instance Mr. Musikari Kombo (a cabinet minister in the Kibaki administration in kenya) and (ODM presidential running mate) Mr. Musalia Mudavadi the two come from one community (Luhya) in western Kenya on Sunday Kombo described Mudavadi as a politician who has consistently betrayed the region?s unity and betrayed its course. Mr Kombo, who is leading the Party of National Unity (PNU) campaign in the region as well as in North Rift, said that Mr Mudavadi chose the opposite path in 1992, 1997 and 2002. ?I have always hesitated to say this but time has now come to set the record right. When we were fighting for the second liberation in 1992, he was comfortable with Moi. In 1997, when western should have supported Michael Wamalwa, he was still in Kanu. In 2002, he opposed the Narc wave and look at where he is now,? said the Ford-K chairman who was meeting party officials in Eldoret.
What can you learn from the above paragraph? The central issue here is the community interest vs self interest of which our so-call community political leaders have not addressed instead they are fighting each other to climb the community political supremacy ladder, first without attaining it through the community leaders that the Chollo community at large may rally behind you and support you tirelessly, because one thing I want to advise you is that ?CHARITY BEGIN AT HOME? always any winning politician do based his/her political agenda on issues that are affecting the community and not the position he/she want to hold. We need to put our nation's interest first before individualistic interests. We have to eradicate tribalism and move on as a unified strong people without prejudices and segregation. We can copy this form of political establishment from the west where everybody is treated equitably under the rule of law and the constitution irrespective of their genders and tribes. Where nepotism and corruption can be checked and balanced through transparent and fair judicial processes that legitimately are of everyone's interest and support. Transparent socio-economic and political system allows for accountability and responsibility so that when things go wrong individuals can reflect on the norms and rules enshrined in the system and peace will prevail. Thus, our youth should be meaningfully engaged in the socio-economic and political establishments? right from the grassroots levels.
These could be the reason why some of our community members had posted questions on this website sometime back asking why there were no any member of our community who ever become a president and of course the history of Sudan is telling us that since the signing of the Addis Ababa agreement (1972) where Southern sudan became semi outonomous for the first time .The first president was Mr. Abel Allier from Dinka (Bor) appointed by Jaafar Numairi President of the Republic of Sudan ,and here we ask " how did Mr. Allier or (Dinka Bor in Upper Nile Province by then) Convinced Numairi to nominate him to be the first Southerner to governe South Sudan, or did the President of the Republic got convinced with equation of balance and check (the biggest tribe in the South), and if it was the case, why didn't he nominated someone from Baher el gazal or( Aweil in particular) from the same tribe. The second President of the South was General Joseph Lagu from small Maadi tribe in Eastern Equatoria the same questions apply. The third was Abel again,The fourth was James Tombora from Zandi, then redivion. The fifth was James Loro from Eguatoria, during Swar El Dahab Presidency. Then came Kahrtoum agreement (1997) With Dr. Riak Machar from Nuer Bantiu followed by Dr. Riak Gai from Nasir.(Fashoda agreement got us Ministry of Road and transport better then nothing!!) And the big one CPA has came with our late unforgetable hero Dr. Garang from Bor followed by the current President Salva Kiir from Gogrial nominated to the position by the Splm Leadership Council. by analysing the data the position was not confined to one tribe although the Dinka got it more than once ,and my conculion is, we are not playing the game very well .And if we want to win the game ,we need to learn all sorts of playing tactics as Mr. Lwanyo Awang
All over the world the youth play a significant role in bringing substantial socio-economic and political contribution for better governance. When the youth are organized it will be equally substantial for them to work towards the strength of the nation. Therefore, our youth should be seriously and meaningfully involved right from the grassroots levels to contribute to the socio-economic and political development (and political of hatred) of our country. But one wonder on how can the youth be included in the decision-making process at this time when their mind have been wounded by these selfish politician?
