About me

I was born on a warm, sunny day on May 25th 1995 in the beautiful Boma of Agoro, Magwi County Eastern Equatoria State – South Sudan. I currently live in Juba but I grew up and studied from the neighbouring country, Uganda since day one.

I live with my Mom Ayo, my brother Francis and occasionally visit my beautiful two married sisters Night & Irene. When I was born and growing up, my brother was some years-old and I used to hide under the table from him. Francis is a sweet brother and he would do anything for me and to protect me, but like all brothers and sisters we argue, fight like Tom and Jerry. Sometimes we stopped talking to each other and sometimes when no one was around, Francis would come up to me and bite my toes for no reason. I still love him but only because he is my brother. Family will always be family.

Who I am in life

My full name is Oloya Charles also known as Charlie Brian a native of Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan. I am a Young Entrepreneur known for founding CB Technologies, a Leading an ICT Training and Service Centre of South Sudan and cracking jokes is one of my favourite hobbies.

I was born into a family of four, two girls, two boys and I happened to be the last born. I lost my dad at a very teenage age when I still needed him the most in early 2000. My mom never remarries, oh that old woman! She is just my hero.

I started School when I was six-years-old in the year 2001. I didn’t attend Kindergarten, I went to Primary School at Layibi Central Gulu - Uganda and while I was there, I won an award for Perfect Attendance. I also won an award for Honour Roll all 7 years. Then I attended Namokora Senior Secondary School in the year 2008 - 2011, and there I also won a couple of awards: one for Perfect Attendance and two for being named Student of the Year.

I enrolled in a 2-Years Electrical Course in the year 2012/2013 from Lugogo Training Institute Kampala Uganda and the following year I joined Kampala International University - Kansanga for a Diploma in the same field. But since Computer Profession was always what I dreamt of since I was a child, I decided to opt for its Certification instead and quit Electrical since it was not my idea.

I reflect a varied personality including ambition, and the qualities of generosity and thoughtfulness. I am also a well determined and vigorous individual, yet pleasantly calm. I encourage fighting for what you desire and believe in, and doing it through God because nothing great comes easy and with God everything is possible.

I am motivated by love for learning and succeeding as I strive to become an outstanding and successful man in today’s Society with the definitive goal of becoming a Professional Computer Engineer and owning a renowned Institute of Technology in the Republic of South Sudan. I am currently working as a Software Specialist and a Microsoft Office Teacher at my Centre, Charlie Brian Technologies Gudele 1 Buoba branch and sometimes serve as a 1-on-1 Private Tutor in people’s homes & offices. I also own some other small businesses around town that I look up to in my spare times.

My family had a long tradition of service in Business, Religion, and Education. So I initially seemed destined for a career in one of those, even receiving some Advanced Training in Kampala, but later I decided to follow the same calling as my father - that of becoming an Entrepreneur yet God fearing. I plan on continuing with my Education when I get money and maybe someday come back and dream beyond.

My business and what it does

I founded Charlie Brian Technologies Computer Training Centre commonly known as CB Technologies immediately after leaving School in the year 2016. What life means to me

Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life, but like all youth, I do have my "days of". That means I do have some sad days or depressed days.

I have a few friends here in Juba that sort of look out for me and when I am having a bad day, I have someone here at the Centre I talk to. I make my work days go by thinking of either the next hour or what I will do when I get home or on the weekend.

I'm not seeing anyone now but when I did have a girlfriend; our favourite places to go were the Movies & Comedy Shows while in Kampala. But in Juba since there were no such places, we used to go out to dinner, sometimes we went to the mountain. Only once we went to the river side: We were together for three years and then we broke-up; so no, I don't think it was forever lol.

My outlook on the future

The year 2022 will be 7 years since I finished that level in School. I think I will probably still be living here in Juba. I will be quite comfortable with my living situation, meaning that I’ll continue sharing my skills to our youth and service to the rest.

My advice to the Government

I am urging the Government and other South Sudanese high profiles people in and outside the Country to always consider pushing Youth in Technology and built good Schools in the Country so that Citizens don’t have to travel that far away to gain knowledge, and also gives free Education in or outside the Country to the Citizens who cannot afford to obtain such knowledge from different Colleges. I believe that will divert our minds as Youth of this Young Nation from joining bad groups or peers but rather focus on the path God created us to become.

Nowadays, governments, Organisations, Communities and Individuals rely on Computer Technology to produce or innovate the majority of things in their lives, such as Food, Services, Entertainment, Care, Communication, Education and Transportation.

My advice to the Youth out of School

Always try harder to hustle under the sun other than sleeping, random movements, folding your hands and just expecting from family, relatives and friends.

Disappointments as they say always come as a result of failed expectations. To have less disappointment, either expect less from other people or demand more from yourself. There is a quote that says; “The greatest cause of poverty to our lives is the belief that someone else will help us”.

To the Youth who are still in School

Try to get as much as you can out of School; you're only there for eleven or twelve years and when you finish, you're home free and that is the time to join the league. Here's a quote for you to live or try to live by: it goes – “If you work hard and believe in it, it can be done”.

My advice to the Parents

Dear parents, you should not force your children to study a course or courses in which they don’t want to learn just because the son or daughter of so and so is this and that. It can be painful for the child and you say that “your love is for children” well that is true, but I don’t think so. Why should there be love like that when the child is having the pain of forcing talent.

These thoughts will lead a child to depression, mental breakdown, and fatigue. We all know that handling a situation will be easier if we love to do it but think of it, how you can be happy doing things you don’t really love.

I beg to say, let your child choose a career that they truly want and then you support him or her.

Conclusion

As I said in the beginning, I was born here in South Sudan and I've lived here for quite some years now. I would like to see more of the country abroad or even the neighbouring countries again but unfortunately, I don't have enough money to leave South Sudan to go anywhere right now. I hope you have enjoyed reading my life story as much as I have enjoyed writing it for you.
