Eid Greetings

By: Deng Emmillo Mou, Juba-South Sudan,

Immediate current Presidential Advisor on the security Affairs and of the Government of South Sudan has advised the South Sudanese Muslim community to support the numerous prayers they made during the holy month of Ramadan concerning the Nation, with positive attitudes which are necessary for Nation-building, and urging all compatriots to exhibit the virtues imbibed during the Ramadan fast in all aspects of life. He notes that the fervent prayers and the successful completion of the Ramadan fast point to the determination by the people in their ardent trust in God to overcome the vicissitudes of life both as individuals and as a Nation, particularly as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The South Sudanese stressed that leaders must therefore bear in mind that the positions they occupy were bestowed by the Almighty Allah for the good of the people, and that they will surely give account of their actions, particularly towards the down-trodden, the oppressed and the voiceless.

His Excellency President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit always urge his citizens to use the occasion to reach out and share with one another especially the less privilege and the sick, orphans, widows and the aged at this critical time, He also called on South Sudanese not to drop their guards during this festive period but remain alert in observing all health safety and protection directives in the collective effort to check the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, which would soon be a thing of the past in our Nation.

The Hon. Tut Gatluak Minime urges South Sudanese, particularly leaders at all levels, not to lose sight of the essence of the Eid-el-fitr and the eternal lessons of Ramadan, but bring them to bear by living in Truth, Selflessness, Tolerance, Forbearance, Honesty and Transparency in all their dealings.

Furthermore, our President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit beckons on all South Sudanese to jettison all divisive tendencies that stoke acts of violence, and rekindle the spirit of Love, Peace, Forgiveness, Reconciliation and Unity needed to pull our Nation out of the woods.

Gen. Tut Gatluak Minime said, Ramadan symbolises Allah’s way of teaching humanity the attitude of living a virtuous life, where people keep away from all forms of impurities and experience denial of several forms of comfort.

Besides, this while congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fasting and also on Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

Hon. Tut Minime, was quoted as saying, “While all of us seek to stay away from activities that are injurious to our health, our beloved Nation South Sudan, and our fellow human beings, and seek to live a decent life during the fasting period, we should make this solemn and God-fearing way of life a permanent thing.

In his word, he urge Muslim's to internalize the virtues of Honesty, Selflessness, Charity, Tolerance, Good neighbourliness, Justice, Equity and Fairness which Mohammed preached, saying such will go a long way to engender National Development.

On the occasion of the commemoration of the birth of the holy Prophet, it is imperative to reflect on his teachings and deeds in order to uphold his legacies of Unity, Integrity, Peaceful

coexistence and sharing of love among ourselves, which are indispensable in our quest for meaningful human relationships that will result into management of our diversity,” he said.

I want to seize this occasion to urge all South Sudanese to commit themselves to making a greater effort to imbibe these qualities and values as we celebrate the Prophet’s birth.

We should all extend the lessons of Ramadan to the way we live with our neighbours. We should seek peace at all times, promote tolerance of people who speak different languages with us, and worship God in different ways. We should respect the laws of the land and exhibit discipline at all times.

Our level of patriotism should increase after Ramadan. That is what this just ended holy month signifies.

President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit prayed for the Nation and wished South Sudan happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters in South Sudan and in particular a happy Eid-el-Fitr
