MY RESPONSE TO THE GANG OF 3

By James Ogilo Agor

In June 2007, a row arose against me by a gang of 3 persons who seemingly are affiliated to (SIC). Many people might have thought that (SIC) should deserve strong condemnation for trying to cause a rift within the ranks and files of the SPLM political party. Although my first article was in line with that thought, yet I reaped tremendous abuse from Mr. James Okuk, Mr. Carol James and Dr. Peter Adwok Otto. As mention of the name of H.E. Dr. Lam Akol seems to offend some people and often makes them alert, nervous and irritated, I will not continue the debate or the contents of that article.

Concerning my second article, the gang of 3 appears to have been ignited by misreading and my use of three words, lies, alarming and disgrace. I did not deny anything in connection with the Conference. I did not also deny or doubt the large quantity of the donations for Kodok hospital. I used the word lies in connection to the attendance of H.E. Salva Kirr and H.M. Reth Kwongo in the Conference.

The Gang confirmed my point, but as usually, a person caught stealing would not like to be called a thief, so are they outraged to be called liars, I therefore apologize for calling them liars. The conditions of Kodok hospital in the way of staffing and equipment as narrated by the nurse were miserable, therefore alarming to any person who heard it. The blame here goes to those entrusted with the administration both at the level of GOSS, Upper Nile state and Fashodoa province, not the doctors. It is therefore a disgrace that certain people like Dr. Peter Adwok Otto, who had been entrusted with responsibilities as ministers of health, government of Upper Nile state and commissioners of Fashoda province, kept Kodok hospital in a miserable condition.

There is no excuse whatsoever for failure by the various administrative authorities, since Kodok town was never attacked by SPLA as from the time Fashoda was established as a province. Kodok hospital is a public property, any property transferred to it whether by a private body, needs to pass through the relevant related official channels for transference and accountability. I do not think there should be any much argument about this point.

Mr. Carol James has revealed that some people had made my sons, cousins, nephews and so on hostages for my writing. A genuine, franks and honest desire to have me shut up would have been to contact me directly by the proponents of this idea. I view this act as an intimidation, harassment and blackmail. It is a wicked design, calculated to cause a rift between me and my immediate relatives and to estrange them from me. The gang of 3, being boastful of their educational qualifications, described me as self-styled intellectual who needs evangelist Renhart Bonke to heal me of intellectual disability. My dictionary defines the word intellectual to mean a person capable of serious thinking irrespective of whether he knows how to write or not.

Strangely, Dr. Otto assigns me the job of writing. Writing, is an abstract art which needs serious thinking, why should he assigned writing to a person who lack intellectual ability? Mr. James Okuk, being a diplomat is expected to be ethical in his dealing with others. By contrast, Mr. James Okuk is over obsessed with his so called, well planed, well organizes, and well attendant Conference and assumed high achievements. Guy is high intoxicated with the exuberance of his own verbosity. However, being a product of the generation of anarchy, he has every reason to be a spoilt child and therefore, he is excuse for abusing the people whom he recognizes as elders.

The relationship between a teacher and his student and those of a doctor and his patient is usually cordial. Unfortunately the relationship between me and Dr. Peter Adwok Otto as my student and he as my doctor, seem to have been bedeviled by my criticism of H.E. Dr. Lam Akol style of politics. After all, it is probable that either it might have been Dr. Lam or Mr. Mongo Ajak, who had put him in the position of minister of health in Juba. However, I expected him to be responsible, it is regrettable that he has not been as I had expected, especially that Kodok hospital which should have been one of his priorities in staffing , equipment and medical supplies, remained to be relieved by a private organization. Worst of all was the untimely death of his elder brother, a lawyer and a career diplomat of the highest order, late Isaac La, who died through gross negligence by his immediate relatives. Dr. Otto, although a medical doctor, never made any attempt to take his dear brother for diagnosis.

Mr. Carol James believes in high educational qualifications as the prerequisite in choosing a person for responsible position in public life. Let him be informed that Mr. John Major, a school-leaver became the British prime Minister before Mr. Tony Blair just ten years ago. Mr. Carol boasts of their serious concern about uplifting the Collo Kingdom. Excellent why not, it is the responsibility of the vassals of the Kingdom to uphold the banner of the Collo Kingdom. He calls me an evildoer, I do not know why. If he calls me an evildoer for whatever a reason, how would he call someone who, takes and carries away the property of the Church without any claim of right made in good faith and with the intention to deprive the church of such property permanently thereof? Would he call such person righteous and divine? The amount of Sudanese Dinars 12, 000,000 of Sudan Aid in Khartoum is the case in point.

In conclusion, I am not capable of envying the good work of others. I like to see people factual, truthful and honest. I appreciate hard work and deplore neglect of duty and responsibility. I sacrificed my university education for my people and land. I do not have a University degree. My degree is in leadership. I found my way up in politics through the ballot of the box. ?The real educated people? whom Mr. Carol recognizes have always been present among the Collo people. In fact, it was those ?real educated? Collo sons, who often encouraged me to take the lead so as to keep away some other Sudanese citizens from encroaching into Collo territorial constituencies.

The members of the committee which was appointed by H.M. Reith Kwongo in 2005 headed by professor Joshua Otor, a former vice chancellor of Upper Nile University to convene2nd all Collo conference are obviously among the ?real educated? people who usually support me in politics. I do not know why that committee of H.M. Reith Kwongo had to be replaced by Fashodo Social and benevolent organization committee?

I am thankful to Mr. Kwathi Akol Ajawin for asking me to take the lead in halting the advancement of the Jonglei state citizens into the Collo land of Adidhiang. Actually I did that in September 2006. H.E. the President of GOSS, through his minister for presidential office H.E. Dr. Luka Biong, assured me that his government recognizes the boundary between old Fangak and old Kodok Districts, as the boundary between Jonglei and Upper Nile state. He also assured me that the Internally Displaced people of Jonglei state, who now occupy parts of Upper Nile state, will have to return to their homes of domicile, even if the process of their departure may be slow for unavoidable reasons.

Lastly, although not least, the High Level Presidential Committee headed by Hon Dr. Achol Marial deng of Southern Sudan Legislative Assemble (SSLA) with Justice Chan Reer the deputy president of South Sudan supreme Court as secretary general, which was formed to investigate into the fighting and killing among the Ruweng Dinka of Jonglei state, accepted and included in their report my serious concerns regarding the continued encroachment of the Jonglei state Civil Authorities into the Upper Nile sates land along the southern bank of Sobat River and the eastern bank of the White Nile.
