With due respect to Almighty God, we need to express our gratitude and appreciations to The Lord who accomplishes His wills of ensuring the Independent of Republic of South Sudan on 9 July 2011. The dream to have Independent state becomes real and achievable, so what is next?
For us to move forward as one entity, we must have total courage to deal with gross challenges that may hinder our progress in new nation.
First of all, the President of new nation must have heart of father, regarding all southerners as his own children, who were put under his disposal by God Almighty. We all know that among your own children, you may find disobedience, rebellious, disrespectful, and gentle and obedience children, then how to manage such family is the father responsibility. Indeed, well respected father must investigate thoroughly why some of his children are rebellious and tried to understand the reasons of their reactions to his leadership, may be father himself is wrong, or they may have reacted out of pressure they faced from the father, for he failed to attain their aspiration, or they might reacted out of ignorance. As father, you must avoid favoritism spirit among your children, for that will create disunity and hatred. It important for the father to look for means for keeping his family in unity, rather than standing on the side of respectful children only. The father does not need to take side in the quarrelling of his children; if he does for sure his family will be in disarray.
Could the President of Republic of South Sudan be encouraged by behavior of King David, which the Bible tells us that his son Absalom conspired against his leadership, by get up early every day and stand by side of the road leading to the city get. Whenever anyone came with a complaint to be placed before the king for an answer, Absalom would call out to him, ‘'what town are you from''. He would answer your servant is from one of tribes of Israel''. Then Absalom would say to him. ‘'Look your claims are valid and proper, but there is no representative of the king to hear you''. And Absalom would add, ‘'If only I were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come to me and I would see that he get justice'' (2 Sam.15:2-5). Despite of terrible conspiracy and plot made by Absalom to overthrown David's reign, David has fatherly heart full of love to his son that forced him to commands his commanders that ‘' be gentle with the young man Absalom for my sake'' (2 Sam. 18:5). When David heard the news that his rebellious son was killed in war, he mourned for him saying: ‘'O my son Absalom. My son, my son Absalom! If only I had to died instead of you'' (2 Sam 18:15). What marvelous love shown by David to disrespected son, what lesson can we learn here? We may have the same disobedience people in our midst in the south; then the President must deals with them as David deals with his rebellious son, this will ensure peace, stability and progress for sure.
As matter of fact the father of new born nation may have had bad experiences with some of his brothers and colleagues in the past years, in order to heal his conscious he must forgive them and ask for forgiveness from such people, only this may store broken relationship between them and could open new channel of communication. For the Bible says: ‘'When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your sins. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your sins'' (Mark 11:25-26). It has been notice that men die quickly from heart disease because they never released themselves easily from bitterness experiences. In other words, they internalized their sadness looking for revenge; forgiveness is only treatment for such people if they wish good health, for that may sit them free from internal tension and struggle.
Second, the new nation does not need the same faces which brought a bad name to your previous system, for this is new era that needs authentic, outstanding leaders that will provide tangible services to your subjects. President Salva Kiir, you don't need to miss your subjects again by keeping wrong people in ministerial positions, who never work for welfare of the nation but for their own benefits, even if they there are your closed friends, you must relieve them for sake of new nation development. This is not an easy task and decision to be taken but the new begin demand that kind of courageous decision. It is much better to loss one person, who is not ready or unqualified to render services to the nation, rather than to loss many lives because of unproductive person you may allow to hold certain position.
Thirdly, our brothers from Abyei should not hold any ministerial position in Republic of South Sudan until their case is determine, let do thing on principle, and we should not be disordering people. The mistake we committed in GOSS must be detracted by all mean, for GOSS have given chance to people from Abyei to rule in the south government and never gave the same opportunity to any person from Blue Nile or Nuba Mountain in south government, was it not segregation mentality applied by GOSS? Couldn't the southerners be term as opportunists who used people in mentioned area to fought deliberation war in deceptive way? For short sight people who may think that I have problem with Abyei people. Let me assure you that until they become full members of Republic of South Sudan, by virtue of Abyei Referendum no one has right to oppose them to hold any position, even position of the President of Republic of South Sudan, they will be entitle. But by now they are suppose to eat their cake with northerners up to time their case is over. Yes, as southerners, we have moral obligation to support our brothers in Abyei to ensure their referendum through peaceful means. I hope southerners will learn to be realistic in approaching matter with logically convincing argument, and not just emotionally that turn us to be uncivilized before the eyes of the world.
Fourthly, any kind of opportunity should be paid to all citizens base on qualifications rather than on blood relationship, and any leader who populated his ministry with his clan members should be fired by ROSS, for all government sectors are for all citizens of the south. People must avoid using vernacular language in governmental institution for it may create ethnicity tendency, if we wish to have harmony in new nation of Republic of South Sudan.
Finally let join hands to develop our new nation by using our gifts and skills which God bestowed to us for His glory. Failure to participate in the development of Republic of South Sudan is big sin before God sight, for no more excuses. We must be willing to accept constructive criticism with open minds rather than regarding those people who criticized us as enemies, for criticism is very good tool to correct our mistake, why do we do evaluation? Is to discover any shortcoming in project we implemented so that we may try to improve in next plan. But on contrarily, negative criticism for sake of criticism must be detracted. This is my pleasure to plead with my fellow countrymen to try to discover different gifts among ourselves so that we may appoint right person in right place that will minimize offering job to unskillful person that will let all of us down.
