1. Music Director

The main role of the Music Director is to collect, archive, catalogue and index SRS' music audio files.

The Music Director will also be responsible for getting translations of lyrics in local languages, ensuring that songs are appropriate to be aired on SRS, and advising producers on what music to use for particular programs and program elements. He/she will also actively seek to expand SRS' music library.

Duties:

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.Review the existing SRS music library to ensure that the lyrics of all songs are appropriate for airing;
2.Catalogue and index all of SRS' music audio files so that songs can be searched for and retrieved by language, topic, and other appropriate categories;
3.As needed, oversee translations of songs in local languages;
4.Assist producers in selecting appropriate music for particular programs and program elements;
5.Identify, contact and help negotiate agreements with Sudanese, and as appropriate, other African musicians to provide SRS with the rights to use songs on existing CDs, use SRS studios to record new music, or create music especially for SRS;
6.Assist producers with musical and cultural programming, including conducting research, making contacts with prospective interviewees, and recording, as needed. The Music Director may advance to producing his/her own music program, if appropriate.
7.Assist marketing team with music requirements for special events and other marketing uses as needed;
8.Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

1)Must have extensive knowledge of Sudanese music, both traditional and current, and some knowledge other African music
2)Experience producing music is a plus, but not required
3)Be able to work comfortably and cooperatively with people from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
4)Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
5)Able to work proactively in a team environment
6)Meet deadlines with minimal supervision
7)Excellent verbal and written skills in English
8)Verbal skills in Simple Arabic required, additional Classical Arabic would be an advantage
9)Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Audition, database software) required

 

Supervision and Location:

The Music Director will be supervised by John Tanza. The first few months, the position will be located in Nairobi, Kenya. By the end of the year, Music Director will be re-located to Juba, Sudan. Occasional travel to other locations in Sudan may be required.


2. Driver

The Driver will provide reliable and courteous transportation service to employees of EDC - Sudan Radio Service as assigned, and operate and maintain the vehicle, with safety a top priority.

The Driver will report to the Bureau Manager - Juba.

Qualifications:

1.Speak English and Arabic (Any other Sudanese language will be an added advantage)
2.Have a clean valid Driving License and over 5 years driving experience.
3.Be willing to work long and odd hours.
4.Have good recommendation letters from previous employers.
5.Be willing to run errands.
6.Be knowledgeable of vehicle insurance and regulations.
7.Should posses some mechanical knowledge
8.Be a team player.

Duties:

1.Drive the employees of Sudan Radio Service daily as assigned.
2.Run errands.
3.Assure the maintenance of the vehicles.
4.Perform minor maintenance tasks on the vehicle when necessary.
5.Be responsible for the security of the passengers.
6.Ensure that periodic scheduled vehicle maintenance is completed and reported.
7.Document daily usage sheet.
8.Assist the supervisor to prepare accident reports as necessary.
9.Assist the employees and EDC visitors in carrying out their luggage from the vehicle.
10.Keep the assigned vehicle clean inside and outside.
11.Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with the supervisor to minimize service interruptions.
12.May perform other duties as assigned.

Location

The Driver will be based in Juba, Sudan.
