Dr. Lam and Uncle Bona Malwal welcomed at Khartoum Air port.

(GSMC) - The awaited for plane from Juba with Dr. Lam and Uncle Bona Malwal Madut on board touched down at 12;00 Noon on the 10th October 2010. They were accorded a very warm welcome by many supporters who conglomerated in the airport terminal where Dr. Lam was expected to deliver a press conference. The meeting between H.E. Salva Kiir and Dr. Lam Akol was described as being friendly and cordial.

This meeting came as a bomb blast to the media. Some of the news journalists had expressed their non expectation of such a meeting to convene between Dr. Lam and H.E. Salva Kiir president of GOSS. Dr. Lam said “In politics there is no permanent enmity and any difference will always disappear with the removal of the root causes, and that any one with thinks that the unity of the Sudan can be achieved without the unity of southerners, is being fallacious”. The meeting between Dr. Lam and Salva was anticipated by many peace loving people from the south, but it never pleased the war mongers and some people in the north who think that the coming together of the two leaders is not good, are those who think that divide and rule is the solution to destroy the CPA. The cordial meeting as described indicates the depth of understanding of the CPA implementation strategy by the two leaders.

The developing tension between the two parts of the country got to ease and the uncompleted requirements of the implementation of the CPA to bring the ship to a safe docking is tantamount to stability and not going to square one. There are perquisites to the voting in the referendum that’s to say adequate registration, peace in the villages and cessation of military showdown between the SPLA and the rebels.
