January 12, 2015 (JUBA) – South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir has issued an executive order, sacking his finance minister, Aggrey Tisa Sabuni.

The order announced on Monday on the state-owned South Sudan Television (SSTV) did not cite any reasons for the president’s decision.
Sources at the ministry of finance and the presidency, however, claimed the decision could be linked to corrupt practices and Sabuni’s alleged ties to companies owned by either officials in the country’s rebel faction led by former vice president Riek Machar or those in camps of the former political detainees.
Sabuni has been re-appointed a presidential advisor.
David Deng Athorbei, a former finance minister removed in the 2011 reshuffle, replaces Sabuni.
