November 30, 2014 (JUBA) – Members of South Sudan’s ruling party chapter in United States conducted a two-day convention at which they elected Ladu Gubek as their new chairperson.
The election, described as free, fair and democratic will see Lubek, who replaced Mangok Mayen, head the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM) national secretariat in America.
Suzan Jambo, the national secretary for external relations, praised Mangok for his “selfless service” and “commitment” in mobilising people during the 2010 elections and the referendum a year later.
“Cde Mangok shall always be remembered for his tireless commitment and these tireless achievements,” said Jambo, in a statement also copied to president Salva Kiir, among others.
The SPLM further pledged continuous support to the newly elected US chapter chairperson and his team, urging them to emulate the exemplary work of their predecessors.
