ROCKPORT - The Rockport man who has spent the last several weeks in a South Sudan prison is out on bail and now awaits his time before a judge to plead his innocence.

This is national video of Rockport native, Mark McCabe after being released from Juba prison on bond. He spent several weeks incarcerated, for allegedly planning to kidnap and murder an Indian man.

"We went to some friends of ours to pay for some diesel and all of a sudden we were surrounded, we were arrested, and the nightmare became a reality for 40 days we was incarcerated," McCabe told reporters.

Monday, he goes before a judge to plead his innocence against charges he calls outright lies. Nonetheless, he has no ill-will toward South Sudan as a whole.

"Any third world country, or a country that is a new country, you have to be very cautious. I experienced something that is very bad. But I believe that I will overcome this and I'm not going to say, I'm not going to tell people not to come here, because if you don't, then you don't know," said McCabe.

We spoke with his cousin, on the phone today and she told us the family hopes the charges will be proven false and that Mark will be back home with them soon.

While incarcerated, Mark suffered a minor heart attack. That's why his family is even more anxious for him to return home so he can get the medical care he needs.
