The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Thursday handed over a vehicle and ICT equipment to South Sudan’s Ministry of Finance and Planning to help strengthen its digital capacity.
Speaking to reporters during a handover ceremony in Juba on Thursday, Dr. Samuel Doe, UNDP Resident Representative in South Sudan, said the equipment includes three large printers, 26 computers, and a server that will make the work of the Aid Coordination Department easier.
“The equipment includes three large printers, 26 computers, and a server that can be used for the aid management system and conference facility to facilitate and expedite the ministry conferencing with other ministries and international partners,” Dr. Samuel said.
He said the equipment and a vehicle will enhance and strengthen government leadership in its coordination role.
“We believe and hope that this equipment and a vehicle will be used to further enhance and strengthen government leadership on its coordination,” Dr. Samuel said.
For his part, Mr. Arop Nuoi Arop, Acting Undersecretary for Planning, hailed UNDP for its support.
He added that the equipment will enable the Aid Coordination Department to manage information on official development assistance by collecting and processing data to produce reports on donor support to South Sudan.
“We are very happy for the support for the Aid Coordination Unit, and this one will enable the aid coordination unit to work hard with partners to get the data on time,” Arop said.
