PHNOM PENH, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- A Cambodian man serving as an operations officer at the UN Mission in South Sudan tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Cambodia, a spokeswoman of the Ministry of Health (MoH) said on Friday.
The 51-year-old officer landed in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Wednesday from South Sudan, with connecting flights in Cuba, Ethiopia and South Korea, said MoH secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine.
"The result of his samples' test showed (on Thursday) that he was positive for COVID-19," she said in a statement. "Currently, the patient is undergoing treatment at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital."
The remaining 86 passengers on the same flight have been placed under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at various quarantine centers in the capital, Vandine said.
Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 291 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the spokeswoman said, adding that none have died and 283 have recovered. Enditem
