(MENAFN) South Sudan and China's Shandong Hi-Speed Group Co., Ltd (SDHS) signed a deal on the establishment of massive highways aimed at connecting Juba with the isolated countryside.
This agreement is assured to reinforce peace and trade along with reaching out to residents all around South Sudan, stated minister of roads and bridges Rebecca Joshua Okwaci.
President Salva Kiir "has encouraged us with a policy of oil for development for which we are now embarking on the first ever construction of one of the roads in South Sudan that will be followed by other roads," the South Sudanese minister confirmed.
Phase one is commencing in the short term to set up the Juba-Terekeka-Yirol to Rumbek road, the minister revealed.
"We believe that roads are peace, roads are stability, trade, connectivity of the people and country," Okwaci added.
