JUBA, 12 November 2018[Gurtong]-A team of Moroccan and Korean engineers have started the technical development of the master plan for the proposed capital.
Ramciel is located in the former Lakes State, central part of the country.
Development of Ramciel City Master Plan will cost three million US dollars to be financed by the government of Morocco, according to South Sudan government.
Developing the master plan is planned to last for over a year. The process will include demarcation of areas for roads, markets residential areas and key government installations
.Speaking at the launching workshop on Monday, the First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai who is overseeing the process said the government is committed to complete the project.
“The government is committed to the Ramciel City Project and I encourage all of us to work together so that this project becomes a reality,” he said adding, “The fact that this workshop is taking place immediately after the celebration of the signed Revitalized Peace Agreement is a great achievement of peace to move this country forward.”
The Moroccan and Korean engineers will visit the site this week to kick off the project.“The whole team will go to the site to find suitable location for Ramciel City to collect information that will be used for the demarcation of the city,” Mr. Khalid Hamani of Moroccan Alomrani Company said.
In February 2017, South Sudan and the king of Morocco signed an agreement for the construction of Ramciel City.
The Moroccan King Mohammad the 6th pledged to fund the technical and financial needs of constructing Ramciel.
Ramciel was proposed by the late Dr. John Garang before the country gained independence.
