South Africa's Deputy President David Mabuza is in Khartoum for consultations on the implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement.
The South African special envoy is on a mission to press for the smooth implementation of the recent agreement.
Mr Mabuza, who arrived in Juba on Sunday, said the sole objective for his meetings with the peace guarantors was for unity and cooperation among the regional leaders in the search for stability in the war-torn sate.
He made the revelation in Juba where he had a meeting with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir.
Mr Mabuza disclosed that his meeting with President Kiir was positive, adding that the latter assured him of his readiness to implement the agreement fully.
“Generally, the mood that I am getting is a very positive mode. I am grateful that all the participants are all optimistic that this kind of an agreement that is before us now must be implemented and they request all our support to make this a reality,” he said.
“We are confident that tomorrow will be a better day for the people of South Sudan.”
Mr Mabuza was Monday expected to meet Sudanese President Omar Bashir in Khartoum.
Other regional leaders the special envoy was expected to meet include presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
“We will meet President Omar al-Bashir, we will meet President Yoweri Museveni and we will meet President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“This is so that all of us are seen to face one direction and support the people of South Sudan to implement the peace agreement,” he said.
“Our main objective of being here is to support all the initiatives that are here…that are aimed at finding long lasting solutions and peace for the people of South Sudan.”
