South Sudan Calls Forces To Cooperate With UN Troops

South Sudan, the youngest country in the world, confirms state’s forces will cooperate with the United Nations Regional Protection Force to establish peace and stability.

President Salva Kiir said Friday to its forces not to fight with either the regional protection force or the United Nations mission, but instead to cooperate with them.

Kirr was addressing to the state’s police force and said, “You need to really be vigilant… Even if they are our friends, they are foreigners… let us take the time with them so that we don’t fight with them.”

South Sudan achieved independence from Sudan on 9th July 2011, but since 2013 it is under outbreak of civil war. So far thousands of civilians have been killed and over two million have been displaced internally.

Lately the relationship between South Sudanese security force and UN troops has been frosty and Kiir claimed in August this year the foreign forces were doing little to help the situation in their capacity.

South Sudan is a member state of United Nations and has signed cooperation agreements too. However, the working relations between the two have been equipped with mistrust frequently.

Rajab Muhandis, Executive Director of the South Sudanese Network for Democratic Elections, said the latest comment of the president will improve the image of South Sudan abroad and to encourage other nations to offer support too.
