A senior member of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLM-IO), Angelina Teny, has told BBC Hardtalk’s Zeinab Badawi that the group is “committed to a political settlement".
She is married to the former vice-president Riek Machar who is now in exile.
South Sudan’s civil war has caused more than 2.2 million people to flee their homes.
The country’s UN human rights commission has warned ethnic cleansing is taking place.
South Sudan's President, Salva Kiir, has denied this.
