TORIT, 06 February, 2016 [Gurtong] – The SFCG successfully concluded a two-day training workshop under the theme 'I love my Country': Strategic communications for Peace-building in South Sudan.
Imatong State Information and Communication Ministry, Director General, Auxilio Odume Raymondo gave his appreciation to the SFCG on his ministry's behalf, for its commitment to develop the capacity of the State Journalists to professionally report on conflict sensitive related issues in the region.
The Journalists were drawn from three radio stations' government owned 97.5 FM, Grace Rradio, Emmanuel Radio and freelance Journalists and Correspondents from different Media outlets.Speaking at the conclusion of the training session last Friday, at COTAL's Human Resource Center in Torit, Auxilio Odume reminded the Journalists that their training is meant to impact on quality reporting.
Mr. Odume further told the graduates to embrace will and commitment in doing their day-to-day job because without which better performance couldn't easily be attained.
"... You can or may attain many golden training opportunities but if there is no will and commitment to deliver services, tangible results won't yield at all. What we need from you is consistent quality reporting. Information is power, through you, the Journalists the public or the world is updated or informed. You must utilize your potentials. We depend on you. We need hard work from you and cooperation among yourselves and the government," expressed the Director General's Odume while addressing the graduating Journalists.
The SFCG's Media Coordinator, Mr. Daniel Lasuba clarified that his organization seeks to build sustainable peace in both conflict and post-conflict nations like South Sudan through the Media by carefully handling conflict sensitive reporting thus help bringing all sides of parties to conflicts, to work together in union in finding solutions to problems.
The SFCG is an international non-profit organization operating in 34 countries whose mission is to transform the way the world deals with conflict away from adversarial approaches toward cooperative solutions.
