Humanitarian organizations operating in South Sudan need $1.3 billion to respond to the needs of 5.1 million people in the country hit by two years of civil war, the United Nations said.
A total of 114 aid organizations, both South Sudanese and international, have projects in the response plan for 2016, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said Tuesday in an e-mailed statement.
Conflict that erupted in the oil-producing nation in December 2013 has left tens of thousands of people dead and forced more than 2 million others to flee their homes.
