The highest rate of children missing out on school in the world is in South Sudan, UN Child agency UNICEF disclosed Friday in a fresh report.UNICEF report revealed that more than half of the South Sudanese children can’t go to schools due to the continuous conflicts in the young state.
It also said that around half of the Sudanese children can’t go to school due to the continuous conflicts in many regions over the country.
The report confirmed that the percentage of the children out of schools in Sudan is 41 percent while it reached 51 percent in south Sudan.
“When children are not in school, they are at an increased danger of abuse, exploitation and recruitment into armed groups,â€ said Unicef’s head of education, Jo Bourne.
“School equips children with the knowledge and skills they need to rebuild their communities once the conflict is over, and in the short-term it provides them with the stability and structure required to cope with the trauma they have experienced.
Almost one out of four children growing up in conflict zones are missing out on education, according to the United Nations children’s agency (Unicef): a total of 24 million children in 22 countries affected by conflict.
