NIMULE, 13 December 2015 [Gurtong]- The limited boreholes in Magwi County are not enough to cater for all households and the IDPS hence the need for the government to drill more.
In an interview with Gurtong a Chief from Koli Anyini Boma says that they appreciate the government’ efforts in drilling bore holes but more is needed in order to cater for the increasing number of the population.
“The beautiful work the ministry did in the region has relieved us from buying the expensive priced bottled water. To us, bottled mineral water is seen as a luxury. We drink and depend on these boreholes for our water needs in the region,” said Dralaga Samson, one of the Boma Chiefs from Kolu Anyini.“Coupled with the dry season, some women have resorted to waking up from sleep at around 2 am, a time when most people have slept, but this still puts them in danger, especially in the hands of rapists,” said Dralaga.
It cost 5 South Sudanese pounds to fetch water from the boreholes. The money is used for maintaining the boreholes.
According to the Chief there are less than12 boreholes serving the whole of Magwi County.
