South Sudan summit cancelled

Intergovernmental Authority on Development called off for second time

World Bulletin / News Desk

A regional summit due to take place in South Sudan on Monday has been cancelled, the country’s information minister said Sunday.

The meeting of leaders from the member states of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) was cancelled for a second time over clashing engagements.

“It has been called off because they are engaged with other programs,” South Sudan’s Information Minister Michael Makuei said.

Pope Francis visits Kenya and Uganda - two key IGAD members - next week.
