South Sudan is seeking to boost its military cooperation with Egypt as the South Sudan Minister of Defence Kuol Manyang begins a visit to Cairo to meet his Egyptian counterpart.The South Sudan embassy in Cairo said in statement issued here Wednesday that Manyang has arrived in Cairo for a four-day visit during which he is expected to hold meetings with senior Egyptian officials.
“The minister of Defence is scheduled to hold talks with Egypt officials on boosting military cooperation,” the statement read in a part.
“The minister will meet senior government officials to discuss cooperation on military training and armament, and how South Sudan can benefit from Egyptian expertise,” the statement pointed out.
Egypt has increased its investments in south Sudan despite the eruption of the war in the young state.
Egypt has also offered several scholarships to Southern Sudanese students in Egyptian universities.
