The secretary general of South Sudan’s ruling party SPLM, Pagan Amum has accused South Sudan President Salva Kiir of threatening him and his group (G10).

Pagan told the press Tuesday that he will not go back to the capital Juba unless he and his group are guaranteed their security in South Sudan.

“We have been threatened many times by the government and by President Salva Kiir personally,” Pagan claimed.

“We will return when the security situation improves in South Sudan’s capital. Until now there are risks and even threats on our lives by the government and President Salva Kiir himself and his cohorts,” he further alleged.

Pagan further said his group had been receiving threats since he signed the compromise peace agreement in Addis Ababa. He added that they were accused of betraying the country.

“We are being accused of having sold out the country. We have been accused of being agents of the West and the international community and so forth. So there are threats in Juba city and other government-held areas,” he added.

The government has not yet reacted to Amum’s claims.
