The committee said that it is important to involve those in diaspora so as to facilitate the peace and reconciliation efforts being made in the country.
The Communication’s Officer of the Committee, Peter Kuot Ngong said that those in diaspora are frequently online thus posting key messages which send ethnic sentiments.The Committee plans to organize its first peace campaign in Washington DC, United States of America in September, and thereafter shall roll out to other countries where there is a large number of south Sudanese residing to create awareness on topical issues.
The Committee this week commissioned more than 50 newly trained Peace Advocates in Eastern Equatoria State to campaign for peace within South Sudanese communities.
The 54 Peace mobilizers, who successfully completed 14 days of training sessions, are expected to reach out to the 75 officially established Payams of Eastern Equatoria State with intent to work for peace, unity and harmony among the local communities.
