April 5, 2015 9WAU) – It was all joy and celebrations as thousands of Christians in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state thronged St. Mary’s Cathedral church to commemorate the resurrection of Christ.
Father Jermano Bernado, the main celebrant urged Christians to maintain peace, love and forgive one another in the festive season.
“Today is very importance for us Christians across the world because it marks the day Jesus Christ resurrected from dead,” he told the congregation gathered at the church.
He said the day demonstrates to all Christians that when they die, they will one day resurrect and join Jesus Christ in heaven.
Bernado encouraged South Sudanese women to be strong and emulate Mary Magdallen, the first women to visit the grave of Jesus.
The cleric further urged inmates in all prisons within South Sudan not to lose hope and keep their faith in the almighty God all the time.
“The guards that are guarding you are not ministers. Keep hoping that you will leave jail one day if the judge sets you free,” he said.
Speaking at the same event, Governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan reiterated government’s commitment towards peace with rebels.
Hassan, however, attributed the high demands and lack to rebels’ commitments’ to peace as obstacles to the talks in Addis Ababa.
“I want to tell you that South Sudan government is committed and will to reach an understanding with rebels to bring peace,” he stressed.
