Collo people have always been in the front line in various issues relating to land. Based on the banks of river Nile Collo bore the brunt of different invaders’ wars starting with the Europeans through to the Turks before Sudan independence. After independence Collo was instrumental in the two liberation struggles that resulted in the Addis Ababa and Nivasha peace agreements respectively. In spite of being in that difficult/strategic position with limited military power Collo people have always remained patriotic in defense of the Southern Sudan. It is with pride and pleasure that we state clearly that Collo people have never betrayed the people of South Sudan nor did they forge any alliance with a foreign force against the South.

However, in spite of the apparently rare bravery and patriotism Collo people’s reward from the neighbouring tribes and their usually dominated governments in the South was conspiracy, betrayal, discrimination, killing, land grabbing etc. Sadly Collo people have become weak and divided resulting in their ancestral lands being annexed to Dinka Padang. Not only that but Collo children have been fighting and killing each other on instruction from outside the tribe. Currently their towns and villages are occupied by other tribes and hostile government troops. Consequently Collo has become the largest group in displacement and refuge.

The negative impact of these factors is obvious on Collo people wherever they are found. The one-time brave and proud people of Nyikango have now been reduced to anonymous, uncounted and non-respected population. The tribes who, in the past, used to think hard about how best to approach Collo on important issues use boastful and sometimes threatening language these days.

Some wise sons and daughters of Collo have seen this deplorable situation their people are living in and decided that a solution should be found soonest. Collo armed groups are now discussing and indeed have gone a long way in bridging the wide gap between them. They are working on how to put the sad past away and look into the future for the benefit and survival of Collo nation. As said the talks are advancing and are expected to reach a happy deal soon.

Because there are no secrets in this global village in which we live today this genuine endeavour by Collo forces have reached the ears of the enemies. This caused them sleepless nights until they came up with a counter measure that they think will abort the peace efforts of Collo groups.  

A Dinka-Collo meeting was quickly manufactured and convened in Juba last week. The carton gathering announced total peace between Dinka Padang and Collo people. This process is no more than a feeble attempt of distraction as peace cannot come when Collo lands remain occupied. Other more serious methods are being employed to keep Collo divided and at conflict with each other. Yes, a few Collo who are weak in principles, and therefore, do not feel the suffering of their people, will no doubt join these plots and help the enemies in trying to completely destroy our great Collo nation. These elements are already spreading anti-unity propaganda amongst Collo in Greater Khartoum. However, we trust the bulk of Collo faithful and are warning them to be alert and watchful about the activities and actions of the opportunists in our midst. We should not allow them the chance to mislead the innocent and the vulnerable ones in our society. This is one thing all concerned Collo should be doing these days until the enemy realizes that Collo people, how poor they may be, cannot accept to be exploited in any way.

Furthermore, we think it a duty for all credible Collo to support, encourage and pray for the peace effort being exerted by the armed groups mentioned earlier on. That initiative should be made to succeed by all means. Our survival hinges on it as it is seen as unity of purpose that should be followed to its logical conclusion. The famous slogan goes as follows: United we stand; division we fall.

May God Almighty bless the efforts of all those working for the unity and survival of Collo people.

بيان صحفي لعموم شعب شلو (الشلك) أينما كانوا

أبريل 2018م

شعب شلو (الشلك) كانوا دائماً في مقدمة القضايا المختلفة خاصة تلك المتعلقة بأرض الوطن.

عموماً تحمل شلو الدفاع عن الأرض في ضفتي النيل في مواجهة الغزاة بداية بالأوربيين انتهاء بالأتراك قبل استقلال السودان.

بعد الاستقلال كان لشلو دور فعال في الحرب الأهلية الأولى والتي انتهت باتفاقية أديس أبابا، وكذلك الحرب الثانية التي انتهت باتفاقية نيفاشا.

وعلى الرغم من كونهم يقعون جغرافياً في الواجهة مع تسليحهم الضعيف والبدائي وقتها ظلوا أوفياء لوطنهم جنوب السودان مدافعين عنه.

بكل فخر واعتزاز يمكن القول بوضوح أن شلو لم يخونوا شعب جنوب السودان ولم يقيموا رغم قدرتهم على ذلك تحالفاً مع قوي خارجية ضد جنوب السودان.

على كل قوبل كل هذا من القبائل المجاورة والحكومات التي يسيطرون عليها في جنوب السودان بالمؤامرة والخيانة والتمييز والقتل واغتصاب الأرض...الخ.

من المحزن حقاً أن شلو أصبحوا ضعافاً منقسمين ولذلك استطاعت الحكومة ضم أراضيهم إلى دينكا فدانق، ليس هذا فحسب بل أن أبناء شلو ظلوا يقاتلون بعضهم بعضاً بأوامر من خارج القبيلة للأسف الشديد.

حالياً فإن مدن وقرى شلو محتلة من قبائل أخرى وجنود الحكومة المعتدين، تبعاً لذلك صارت الأكثرية الغالبة في النزوح واللجوء هم شلو وأصبح تأثير العوامل السالبة ظاهرة للعيان على مجتمعاتهم في كل مكان.

شعب نيكانقو المعروفون بالشجاعة والعزة والكرامة أصبحوا اليوم لا يحسب لهم العدو حساباً وجماعة من الناس غير مقدرة الشأن متجاهلة.

أصبحت المجموعات والمجتمعات التي كانت تعمل حساباً دقيقاً لمواجهة شلو يستخدمون الآن كلمات التهديد والسخرية في تبجح ملحوظ.

لذلك فإن بعض أبناء وبنات شلو العقلاء والحكماء أدركوا الوضع الصعب الذي يرثي له والذي يعيش فيه قومهم وقرروا انه لابد من إيجاد حل عاجل لنبذ الفرقة والشتات.

حاملوا السلاح من الأبناء ناقشوا الأمر وحقيقة وصلوا بعيداً في شوط ملء الفجوة وتجسير الهوة للأقتراب، هم الآن يعملون لترك الماضي الحزين والنظر إلى المستقبل لفائدة استمرار أمة شلو، وكما تقدم فإن المحادثات تتقدم ومن المتوقع الوصول إلى اتفاق مفرح قريباً جداً.

ولأنه ليست هناك أسرار في عالم اليوم الذي أصبح قرية، فإن هذه الجهود الجادة وصلت إلى آذان الأعداء مما سبب لهم أرقاً وسهراً والآن فقد جاءوا بخطوة مضادة في محاولة لإجهاض جهود السلام بين أبناء شلو، ففي الأسبوع الماضي انعقد اجتماع سريع مختلق في جوبا ضم أفدانق وبعض أبناء شلو وأعلن هذا الاجتماع الكرتوني السلام التام بين شلو ودينكا فدانق، هذا الإجراء ليس إلا محاولة يائسة لأن السلام لا يمكن تحقيقه طالما كانت أراضي شلو لا تزال مغتصبة وطالما لا يزالون يستخدمون الوسائل العدوانية للإبقاء على الانقسام والنزاع بين أبناء شلو.

نعم إن قلة من أبناء شلو ضعاف المبادئ الذين لا يشعرون بمعاناة إخوانهم وأهلهم سينضمون إلى مخطط الأعداء ويساعدونهم في محاولة تدمير أمتنا العظيمة من أجل مصالحهم الذاتية الضيقة ولكن هيهات.

هذه العناصر بدأت باكراً في نشر الشائعات والدعاية الهدامة بين شلو المقيمين في الخرطوم ضد الوحدة المرتجاة.

نحن نثق في أن الغالبية سينتبهون ويوقفوا أعمال ونشاطات هؤلاء الانتهازيين في أوساط القبيلة، وعلى الجميع تفويت الفرصة عليهم حتى لا يضللوا ويؤثروا على الأبرياء والبسطاء.

ما ذهبنا إليه من ضرورة الوحدة هو الأمر المهم الذي يشغل بال وهم كل واحد من أبناء شلو في هذا الوقت حتى يدرك العدو أن شعب شلو مهما كانوا من الفقر الآن، لا يقبلون الاستغلال بأي صورة من الصور.

إضافة إلى ذلك نعتقد الحصول على تأييد كل أبناء شلو من أجل تحقيق وحدة الهدف ومساندة الجهود المبذولة ونعتقد أن هذه مسئولية كل أبناء شلو خاصة النافذين والمؤثرين وليقوموا بالتشجيع والصلاة من أجل إنجاح خطوات السلام المبذولة بين المجموعات المسلحة المذكورة آنفاً.

يجب العمل على إنجاح تلك المبادرة بكل الوسائل فبقاؤنا يعتمد ويتعلق بذلك، أن نكون أو لا نكون.

أخيراً نحن ننظر إلى ذلك كوحدة هدف واجب الإتباع لتحقيق النتيجة المنطقية.

الشعار المشهور يقول: بالوحدة ننتصر وبالانقسام نفشل.

فليبارك الله القادر جهود العاملين لوحدة وحماية حياة شعب شلو.

السقوط والفناء للمتآمرين والانتهازيين.

    Thank you more and in advance as well for mentioning it that peace while Chollo people's land is invaded still cannot be practiced or permitted to confuse our people one way or another. And, for acknowledging the excellent work that the braves and proud armed ji Pinycøllø (we are all aware that the former defenders of Chollo Kingdom, today and forever Agwelek -
    Special Forces) - wherever Agwelek goes, we go - we support Agwelek (that is the names today's generations have gotten use to - from home and abroad, Agwelek is the name - forever Agwelek - today, Agwelek and tomorrow, Agwelek) have been doing - for without them, ji Pinychollo or Chollo people's dignity could have been a real and long chaos that would have taken long time to resolve, but the armed generations that have been defending Chollo land and Chollo people and heritages, and policies that are modernly incorporated have done a great and supportable deeds to keep the eyes of our peoples more open, and the people that stand along with us for the causes of Chollo people's land, the Pinychollo and ji Pinychollo (Chollo people) to continue keeping their hopes strong still on us and realize that the Chollo people are the people to give supports to, and for more awakening today and future generations for true freedoms and rights to come and holding those freedoms and rights, how to protect them us people with responsibilities and duties,and to continue protecting what our nation's founder, Nyikango and the Creator (Almighty) have given to us, the Chollo people and the people that understand us as well, we stand and still be named Chollo and our land Pinychollo and our citizens Ji Pinychollo (simply Chollo).

    Our updating generations need to be aware that word Cøllø came from “Cïllø” which means “Sud” in Arabic or interpreted as “Black” in English. Cøllø is what Arab have renamed as “Sudani” or “Sudanese” as English dictates. Sudan is what many of us have come to know us Pinychollo, but “Sudan” or “Blackland” is name in Arabic and either written in Arabic or English as Sudan, and its people Sudanese or Sudani. That makes sense since Arabic has been the language that has united the great nation, Sudan of Africa before 2011 separation deal. With and after separation, south continue their old agony businesses and use Dinka (since they have no other way around but use Dinka because of their large ethnicity background anyhow) as tools to rob Chollo people’s resources and land of Chollo Kingdom. So as a resistances and rules dig in, as nature dictates our root cannot be cut down by Dinka, no matter what kind of weapons or tools they may use to force Chollo out of Chollo ancestral land, it possible that Dinka will suffer more than Chollo people would, and Dinka would leave South Sudan more than Chollo would because this is war, and land is where everything is found, built, settle and run.

    As mentioned by the Chollo Community Council that we have been betrayed by the Southern regimes and the government of South Sudan, and our land invaded by the Dinka-Padang through the helps of government of South Sudan’s armed troops, we look no farther for better way out toward freedom, but to genuinely fight back against Southern regimes and against Dinka that have invaded the Chollo people’s land. No sweetest freedom that can ever be than the one that people take for themselves and powerfully hold it for better or worse is the freedom to fight and kill Dinka or any aggressive or bribed southerner or bribed stranger or bought business or firm that would support Dinka against Chollo people and Pinychollo. Therefore, Dinka and the government of South Sudan should know that Agwelek-Special Forces, and the allies will break all forces that support southerners against Chollo and Dinka land invasion activities.

    Appreciation to Chollo Community Council for their approaches in standing guard and awakened more for Chollo land, the Pinychollo and Chollo Kingdom's heritages and patriots, and prides and the cultures within to be carried on as Great Nyikango, the founder of Chollo nation and Chollo Kingdom - may peace be upon him in Almighty's name - has presented to us the ji Pinycøllø.
