H.E Salva KiirThis terminology was intelligently coined by Professor David de Chand, to describe the period of tenure since three weeks after death of Dr. John Garang that is to say when Salva Kiir Mayardit became the president of GOSS.

Each and every one has a right to make history for famous or other wise. The last five years in the south also had witness a lot of oil money flow to the south amounting to about US$ 10 billions. So what is Kiirocracy? Is it the period, conduct of business, personalities and players like during Victorian period?. This period in the history of south Sudan will be remembered for a lot of bad things and a very few good things is if at all there are.

One conspicuous good thing, is the fact that there was a cease fire mainly between the north and south, but the cease fire between the south-south had always continued at low profile as isolated incidents as of senior police officers shot in Yambio, shooting of patients on hospital beds in Bor, killing of villagers in Anakdiar and other places. As the time draws to close, the war is intensifying as rebellion is increasing especially after the theft of April elections by the SPLM through SPLA gun.

This period of five years was a hell for majority of southern people while like honey moon for a few selected minority who benefited from the resources. There are those who transferred money out of south Sudan in caskets or in nonfunctioning refrigerators. Some lucky or rather unlucky ones bought houses outside Sudan. Those who did not become rich during Kiirocracy in south Sudan will not ever in his/her life. This is the time marked with zero tolerance against corruption with well staffed anti- commission who close their eyes to make bundles of embezzled pass by without question. This period is also marked by a lot of insecurity all over the south when there is a peace and conflict resolution commission well staffed, but will close their offices or never utter any statement when the tribes fight.

This period will also be marked by lack of democratic transformation when 347 SPLM candidates opted to run for elections as independent candidates who were harassed along side the candidates of other parties. This period will also be remembered as the most ruthless period during which candidate contesting for GOSS against Mr. Salva Kiir,Dr. Lam Akol had been threatened by death in Wau and all his agencies arrested and beaten. Mr. Bona Malual, Mr.Joseph Malual, Mr. Michael Mario were humiliated in their constituencies. In contrast, south Sudan was known for being democratically advance in the 1980s.

This period will also be remembered as the time when the precious baby that should not be thrown out with birth water(self-determination) is at risk of fraud. Salva Kiir as a person is a good natured person who never spared any energy in consoling others. But he had been entangled in an interwoven net of a clique of advisors and aides who never spare any energy except to undo what good ever Kiir had done for the people of the south. But what is unfortunate, is the lack of concrete decision by Kiir to kick his bad advisors. He should have kicked them out and not kick them up. This Kiirocracy can he do some thing to reverse it?
