The article posted (in Arabic language) by Mr. Simon O. Nyiker on Pachodo.org Website on 30th April 2008 carries a bad title, leave alone the content. The article runs disjointedly from SPLM\A problems, to Sudan government, to Collo Kingdom, to law enforcement, to Upper Nile State governor, to police authorities, to courts, to Dr. Lam Akol, and to etc....
The author catches anything even what he cannot holds, out of hatred and a designed message that tries to tell the readers that Dr. Lam is a Devil and his rivals are Angels; Impossibility!
I totally agree with the conclusion of Mr. Simon’s article that Upper Nile State Government and GoSS must ensure that the law has been enforced to take its right course by not allowing anyone to be above it whatsoever his status. This is a right and a good statement from a civilized citizen, but………
However, what I dislike and disagree with in the same article is the too many false, wrong and bad premises (justification) used by Mr. Simon to appeal to emotions and fictional imaginational of the readers. He is forgetting that those readers are intellectual beings who know the truth, and who filters it out from distortions. No doubt that this mismatch stems from Simon’s disjointed ideas and misinformation, especially his bad questions which are divorced from the truth that is known about law enforcement and procedures: he thinks that Warranty of Arrest is issued after the accused has been convicted in the court, he thinks that the accused has to be arrested only in day time, he thinks that the police who execute the Warranty have to use a police car, etc. What ignorance on law procedures and what a shame against the exalted law.
Mr. Simon is wrong in saying that Dr. Lam has been confronting our dear King, Kwongo Dak Padiet. Dr. Lam has not done this even once as far as I know him because he respects our King. In addition, he has a friendly history with Reth Kwongo since their school days; it is only the enemies of truth like Simon O. Niker who are wishing Dr. Lam to get into conflict with Reth Kwongo. Dr. Lam did not forge any document in the King’s name, neither had he complained to the SPLM/A that he was marginalized. Instead, it is the enemies of truth and evil-hearted people who have been saying so.
In 2004, the Office of Nyajowk in Khartoum, under chairmanship of Dr. Yunas de Maniel, presented a document to Dr. John Garang where the issue of marginalization of Dr. Lam appeared in one of its points. It was not even a priority complaint because the document was talking mainly on borders of the Collo land against the invading claims of the Dinka and Nuer. The other document was presented in the same year by Dr. Charles Odhok (nicknamed as Nyayarngur) to Dr. Garang in Naivasha during the CPA negotiations Also in one of the points here the issue of marginalization of Dr. Lam appeared though the document was mainly about Collo power sharing in the government at all levels – Dr. Charles was the distributor in the name of Collo people without even a mandate from the King like the case of the previous office if at all His mandate has to be sought in political appointments. Charles’s motive was clear from his famous saying of “ya dwata luny ki nang cinga nimi Dr. Walter Kunijwok ki Dr. Lam”, that is, “I want to leak my hands too from the privileges of power like Dr. Kunijwok and Dr. Lam.” (Indeed he has leaked his hand from Public money in Malakal and ended up in the corruptists fate). Those who have come across these two documents can attest that Dr. Lam was not among the signatories in it. Now, where did he use the Collo Kingdom here for his political interest? Let us put the truth into its proper place and never distort it by lies.
Democratic transformation which is becoming a must in the modern world is so much connected with the grass-roots participation in politics. Dr. Lam is one of the few politicians within the SPLM who has attempted to promote this quest. He did not regret to part with Dr. Garang in 1991 because he rightly chose to respect democratic value more than the personality cult. His challenge made Dr. Garang to change his attitude and reform the SPLM/A by establishing Civil Authority of New Sudan (CANS); a credit which is never acknowledged by the enemies of truth. Also SPLM is not Southern Sudan because Southern Sudan was there before SPLM was born in 1983 and will always be there even if SPLM disappears. So Simon’s prophesy of doom is baseless.
It is a known wisdom that a politician will always be a real politician when he has supporters, especially from the grass-roots. A politician who hangs in the air is never reliable because he does not understand the problem of the people at the lower level and can never be a good help to them. Dr. Lam has understood this wisdom well and he has been working according to it. He did something good for the people of Malakal (built the river port, big meeting hall, rest house, and the current HQ of Makal County) because of this wisdom. Even when he was the Foreign Minister he did not stop visiting the grass-roots from time to time in spite of his busy time with international issues.
Dr. Lam loves the grass-roots and he is never a drunkard or a liar in the expense of the grass-roots. He knows very well that his roots lie in the Collo Land and People. Not only this, but it is also his right as a politician. That is why he does not compromise with anybody who attempts to deter him or detach him from his roots like Chief Oyath and his cronies who hate to see him talking with the people in Collo villages.
What happened between the Police and Guards of Chief Oyath is a matter of law enforcement and procedures; it has nothing to do with the culture, the kingdom and the King as Mr. Simon mixes these up. If Chief Oyath happened to be a spokesman for our dear King that is a different case because law does not exempt anyone as no one is above the law as Simon rightly said. Even those who are granted immunity are not above the law because their immunity can be suspended at times to allow the law to take its right course. So please Simon, you better keep our dear king out of politics if you really respect him as the symbol of Collo’s Unity and Culture.
Could Mr. Saimom be specific: Who are the Upper Nile authorities who cancelled the opened case against Chief Oyath? Are these the very law agencies in the body of attorney or are they different people? Please note that government divides its functions according to specialized branches (Legislative, Executive and Judiciary). So let the case of Chief Oyath be taken to the court so that the judges can rule on it rather than the politicians. I know that the judges are eagerly waiting for the Attorney to take that case to them. Once the case is with the judges, then nobody is going to interfere with it from any motive. The judges are independent than the Attorney and they cannot be easily influenced or threatened by the politicians. So no delay because this will deny justice.
Warranty of Arrest is a procedure used in law enforcement process before the case reaches the judge in the court. The one who is accused is arrested so that his statement are taken and then presented to the court together with the accusation leveled against him. There he will be allowed to defend and free himself if he is not guilty of the charge. It does not work in the opposite direction as Simon falsely puts it. Once the warranty of arrest is released, it can be executed any time (day or night) by any police staff using any means of transport. So please Simon revise your law’s civilization and check contradictions in your argument if you want the readers to believe your unbelievable story against Dr. Lam. Know that Dr. Lam’s supporters are out there to defend his defendable pursuit of democratic transformation and Self-determination. Do not play around with this rare icon in Sudanese politcs.

You are wrong Mr. John Aban, and off the track, NEVER EVER touch our innocent brother Lam Arop. He is an honourable man who dignifies himself and his people. Please respect yourself and people will respect you. Never pull innocent people into your discussions.

Some people have put forth unfounded accusation against Dr. Lam. What they do not know, they made him great leader. Most of people who talk wrong against Dr. Lam are only jealous. There are shilluk intectuals who were responsible for burning of Shilluk Kingdom in 2004 are posing as leaders. If it were not because of SPLA forces led by Dr. Lam who protected the kingdom, the Shilluk King wouldn't be there today.

I'd just like to add my support to what Mr/Mathew Pagan said about Mr/ John Aban's suspects against Mr/Lam Arop. Please! Mr/John Aban keep asking for advice about what to call people. There will generally be somebody who can get you started in the right direction. If my brother or one of my relative is a member of a certain political party, it doesn't mean that I should be also a member of that party. Each person should be judged on his or her own individual merits; these merits include a person's worth and character and are revealed through the person's action. you should be proud of Mr/ Lam Arop and appreciated him for a great job he has done by creating this website voluntarily in which everyone of us is able to expreess his/her opinion for the advancement of our community culturally, socially, spiritually and politically.

I will reprieve my suspicions of Lam Arop, neutrality which in fact arouse from the way he was censoring my writing. With due respect I have no doubt that Lam Arop, is an honorable individual and have no interest in mudding himself with any thing to do with Dr Lam. May be it is my strong believe that Dr Lam Akol, is not an creditable person and is always driven by his selfish ego. For God sack I don’t want to elaborate much in the wrongs that he had committee against his people. I don’t thing nepotism and tribalism with carry us forward as people aspiring to have a country and you people keeps sing praises to this nepotism’s and tribalist leader of yours.

If Lam Arop has an evil heart like Aban John, he would have not been publishing opposing opinions that are designed to tarnish image of Dr. Lam in the this website. But because Lam Arop respects opinion of different Collo people, he publishes anything and leaves each reader to be free in his choice. It is unfair to say that he is not neutral. If Aban want to point his finger to people who are not neutral he should point it to me, and may be to others but not Lam Arop. Besides, there are some rules which Lam Arop set and presented to the readers last year for the use of this website. Please Aban check your memory before you judge an innocent man wrongly.

To brothers:Mathew, Tipo and Okuk, thanks for clarifying my position on this website. I wouldn't have said it in a better way..

Hello everybody, it is a healthy step for us Collo to have this wonderful forum to discuss pressing issues that need urgent solutions, especially in this terbulent time that our lovely community is exeriencing. I only think that we may need to differentiate between social and political views because nobody is expecting entire collo to be in one political party, which is healthy by its self, but collo must melt in one social pot under his lordship King Kwongo.
Politics now a day is tough and we need to perserve our refuge (our King and our Kingdom) by not involving it in politics. Politicians have no permanent friends or enemies, therefore, those who are figthing can become friends tomorrow and today friends can become enemies tomorrow so let's take this fact in consideration. I was expecting reconcilation approach from this forum. What's big deal in seeking a way of reconciling the parties, at least to expose those who are causing these chaos.

Please brother John Aban or Aban John, respect yourself if you would have others respect you. Self pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything wise in the world because self-pity gets you nowhere..!!
I've been reading your comments on Pachodo.org and they don't make sense. You should come up with something fruitful and worth debating.
On the other hand, basically before signing up with or joining any service, someone "The user" has to read the terms and conditions of use "privacy policy" of that service and accept or decline. But, I think you have not read Pachodo.org terms and conditions therefore, you labeled falsely judgment on the WebMaster, Lam Arop. Anyway, I'd encourage you to read the following:Pachodo.org Terms & Conditions:

Hi brothers,
This is the wisdom and the spirit. A way forward is always brought by good dialogue. I think you have given to our brother Aban John or vice versa the information he really needs to be part of the family of this website. All of us are human beings and we get offended when someone ill treats us or others on false basis. I am really moved and I hope Fr. Matthew Pagan can helpus at intervals with the word of God relevant to the articles we write so that we can understand and keep always on the track. I am sure the intention of our brother Lam Arop to have found this wonderful website is to make us argue peacefully for the benefit of our beloved Collo Kingdom. Keep it up brothers and let us debate for the benefit of our readers of ourselves.

There is no doubt that Mr. Lam Arop has created this website for the benefit of Collo people. Through it we can freely express our opinions and thoughts about the matters and issues that concern our community. I think Lam didn’t set this website for a certain people whom he shares a point of views with. But you know guys, the arrogant people who see themselves above all, and think always they are right in their opinions; they don’t listen or even pay attention to any piece of advice presented to them for their sake. A person who doesn’t respect himself; how does he expect others to admire him? The Proverbs 18:12 say “Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor†Do you want to be honored by your people, humble yourself first and for sure you will get it. Mr. Lam I personly appreciate what you did for the society; and remember that not everybody would acknowledge what you have done, but God will not do deny your work.

Lam Arop, I harbor no grudge against you, and for sure your explaining toward my concerns is well taken from my side. So I don’t known what is the point that Enoch Aba , wants to make here. My friend Enoch,I seek no self pity nor am a puppet to any Politian nor do I seek to follow any body. Seek your fruitful debates to those who need it. I am just a normal guy who points out facts and wants to tell it to your face but I guess there is a lot of babysitting to do here for those crying babies.

Thank you brother Aban John for apologizing to our dear brother Lam Arop. However your reply to brother Enoch becomes contradictory to your comment before that Collo need to rally behind H.E. Pagan Amum. Unless you want to say you are not Collo, this comment goes off the track. If Pagan is a politician and you want us to rally behind him (including yourself) then do not say you do not follow anybody. It is not a pity to take a side in politics as long as we do it without hatred of our rivals. Sincerer competition (without cheating or rigging) is the basis of a healthy democracy, so let us not regret about being different in our opinions.

Let me try once more to air my point in this wonderful website that Mr. Lam Arop, had created although I am not sure about his neutrality given the fact that he comes from the same family of Dr Lam . It is the prosecutor who present the case to judge for hearing, then both accuse and defendant are summon for the case to be heard. If there is strong ground for the case to proceed the judge set a date for trial and the accuser is given chance to get an attorney to defend him, in case the accuse/defendant doesn’t show up on the given date this is where warrant of arrest is issue. This is the little that I know about Law. But the fact of the matter is that governor Galuk Deng, is an NCP puppet and can dance around an law to favorite his underground colleague.
