Designed Ethnic Cleansing and Tribal War in Sudan

Mach 25, 2008--Sudan is a largest country in the continent of Africa, and has been constantly at war with itself since independence from the British in 1956. The complex diversity of people with different origins, religions, cultures, and races are at the heart of the conflict in Sudan.

The NIF regime in Khartoum has armed nomadic Arab tribes known as Janjaweed against African indigenous tribes in DarfurSudan since the 1950s.  It is this deal that the current Islamic regime has been seeking to monopolize Islam and exclude Africans in the political process. In both the Southern Sudan and Darfur and they did that in south Sudan decades ago.  The National Islamic Front should know that the regime will not be able to get away with the massive murders and genocide that they have committed against the African indigenous. The National Islamic Front   has been pursuing political Islam in there has been suffering from marginalization for more than 50 years. Because the regime in the center has created a system of apartheid by using of racial discrimination that traditionally served to assure the power, wealth and prestige for them at the expense of the marginalized people. This kind of institutionalized discrimination in nature can be seen clearly in the areas of neglecting the development, economy and education which has been denied to marginalized people.

The Sudan People¢s Liberation Movement took up arms against this evil regime in 1983 which brought an end of 22 years of civil war in January 2005. The SPLM and National Congress Party ( NCP) signed the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) but the regime continues to use the political tactic to avoid the implementation of the CPA. The SPLM has offered hope and the solution to solve the problem of Sudan through the New Sudan¢s vision by adopting a new political theory in order to create a government system based on a pluralistic democratic system. SPLM/A has recognized that Sudan is multi-cultural, multi-religious and, multi-ethnic society which required a government system base that is on democratic pluralistic system.  It is only New Sudan¢s vision that offers accommodations to our rich diversity and a solution living together in relative harmony with one another, and the fair distribution of wealth, development, social opportunities, and political economic prosperity for all the Sudanese.

The National Islamic front¢s policies of marginalization, racial discrimination, ethnic cleansing, and tribal conflict in Sudan were designed by the regime in Khartoum to keep itself in power indefinitely. The brutal oppression has designed a policy of ethnic cleansing by recruiting the local Arab tribe against the African indigenous in Darfur western Sudan. Also radical the Islamic regime in Sudan has opened its doors as a sanctuary for Islamic radicalism in Sudan since the NIF regime came to power in 1989. Sudan¢s radical Islamic regime has created a method of campaigning by using a militant known JanjaweedDarfur western Sudan. The Political Islam in Sudan has been used by the regime in Khartoum since they came to power in 1989 to promote their agendas to build an Islamic empire in Sudan.  The National Islamic Front (NIF) has been conducting a new method by using the Arab tribes against the African indigenous tribes in Darfur in order to clear out or remove the conditions for potential opposition against the Arab rules of injustice against the marginalized people. This tactic designed by the  regime of President Al-Bashir  launched  brutal air offensives and mobilized the local Arab armed militant known as Janjaweed against  the African indigenous both in Darfur and South Sudan. against the African indigenous tribes in

It is undeniable that Al-Bashir¡s regime has committed crimes against humanity and they should know that this crimes will not go away unless they are punished.  Since the National Islamic Front came to power in 1989, they have decided to use the methods and tactics known as government¢s counter-insurgency measures against the Sudan people¢s Liberation Army in southern Sudan who fought against Khartoum¢s regime. This is same method is used today against the people of Darfurian. The NIF regime has been encouraging the local Arab government¢s counter-insurgency to carry out unforgettable crime against humanity. President Al-Baahir has used militants effectively during the war in South Sudan that is why in his speeches to pro-government force and popular defense force he urged them to be prepared for war. On November 17, 2007, Al-Bashir called on the pro-government Paramilitary force to prepare for war against the south. President Al-Bashir challenging Southern leaders who a war rhetoric against his government that, "we say to those who seek to foment war, that we would like to see you on the battle field and not in the hotels."

 The system in the center has created a policy and tactic of ethnic cleansing by using the local Arab militants against African indigenous in Darfur. The radical Islamic aims are to eliminate African indigenous tribes who are supporting for resistance against the regime in Khartoum by recruiting the local Arab tribes against the African indigenous. This brutal tactic used by the radical Islamic regime against African ethnics in order enable them to build an Islamic monolithic empire of Arab rule. I believe that ethnic cleansing in the broad sense constitutes crime against humanity and can be punishable by law according to the International law. These policies have resulted in massive ethnic cleansing and genocide sponsored by the radical Islamic regime in Khartoum which left more 300, 000 people dead in Darfur.

The People of Darfur were left with no option but to resort to military resistance for their survival. The major cause of ethnic cleansing and tribal wars in Sudan is designed by the regime in the center against African origins. The African indigenous has been denied development, economic, political and social opportunities. Many observers view the root of problem in Sudan as a society that consists of groups of people thrown together by history but cultural different. When we look back to the 20th century it has been the century of the warfare of ideologies, and the 21st century begins as the century of the warfare of ethnicities. The conflict in Darfur has been portrayed as an ethnic cleansing systematically carried out by the Arabs tribes known as Janjiweed against the Africans indigenous.  The Sudanese government in the center has been using a strategy of "racial divide and conquer" recruiting local Arab militants to fight against one another. Many believe that root problem in Sudan is not ending the war and signing   peace agreements without serious commitment to implement the agreement but to bring an end to Khartoum¢s radical Islamic rules.

 In my view, in order to have a lasting peace in Sudan, the ruling regime must be committed to implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) by creating a new paradigm shift to transform the government system to resolve the problems of Sudan. Once Bishop, Paraide Taban, the Co-founder of the New Sudan Council of Churches said, "I have been dreaming of a community where people with difference ethnicity and different religious background can live side by side with confidence in harmony and fellowship."  I believe strongly that there will be no peace in Sudan until the radical Islamic regime is removed from the power. But all will depend on the political will both SPLM and other Opposition parties to form a   partnership to dismantle the current regime from power and, build a government system based on democratic rules that will respect the pluralistic nature of Sudan¢s multi-religious, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society. The absence of democracy in Sudan compounds the problem. In order to achieve the Vision of a New Sudan, a radical change must be made in the political structure of the current regime through the New Sudan vision.

  Who will make the radical change when the very parties who talk of change are unable to change their conduct to be better than the NCP/NIF? We build a nation by practice more than by empty rhetoric that does not manifest itself in our visible and invisible actions. I believe strongly that there can be peace in Southern Sudan (even if there is no peace in Northern Sudan) if Southerners stop bothering and wasting their energies on the criticism of the deformed Radical Islamic Regime whose roots have spread everywhere in Northern Sudan to be removed so easily in any shorter period. So just leave them alone with their evil practice and let us focus on how we can get united as one nation of South Sudan in preparation for our independence. So let us exert our energies, instead , to build our necessary strengths for the taking and the defending of our independence right in 2011 by any means. We are also intelligent and can find our way without referring to NIF dirty history.
