Happy Thanksgiving Day, with my best wishes to each and every member of this wonderful website. On this special day when we pray, celebrate and gather, let's remember our loved ones whom we lost in Jabeleen and in Malakal during Wornyang. May Almighty God of mercy give us wisdom to overcome those temptations. Let's also not forget to pray for eternal peace that comes from the above to enrich our lives.

Thanks for your positive comments and for those who gave some additional info about this traditional celebration. But, the question is to whom we give thanks? Isn't to our Lord for abundant life? Indeed, living is giving. We live life best when we give our strengths, gifts and competencies in service of God's mission and His people. We're called to serve, not survive. Our giving makes difference in our families, our community and our entire world....... We read in Matthew 6:21, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.".. Are we aware of how many people in Collo lands still starve and can't find something to eat or feed their kids while we enjoy delicious Turkey and drink whatever we take on Thanksgiving Day?? Yes, to me this day means a lot and has connection to remember my loved ones...

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I would like to make some comments that were brought by some of you regarding discussion about Thanksgiving. Brother Enoch Aba made a good point and painful one about the suffering our people faces back home in Sudan. As Emmanuel remind us in the book of Matthew 6:21 that, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Now we are talking about the real suffering of our brothers and sisters in Piny Chollo. For many of us, it is easy to talk about the suffering of our people but it is not easy for us to make real commitment by taking the action to help our people we are talking about. The good example, three months there was floods disaster in Pothi Chollo that devastated most of pothi Chollo Villages where our people today are still in needs for assistant and we have not done anything. Is that not a shameful for all us to talk about the suffering of our people are still facing suffering while we the Chollo in general in Diaspora failed to responded to the floods disaster that took place in pothi Chollo? If indeed our hearts are where our people are and feels the suffering our people are facing how come we could not do something about disaster that took place in Piny Chollo?
If we are real concerns about the suffering our people are going through in Pothi Chollo than it is not too late for us to do the right thing now. I personal challenge Chollo community in the United States for failing deliver to our people in time of needs. I blame Chollo community as whole in the United States for failing deliver to our brothers and sisters in Pothi Chollo who are in desperate need. I am sure Chollo numbers in the United States have increased and yet Chollo community still facing financial difficulties because Chollo in the United States have failed to make a generous financial contribution commitment in support for the Chollo community. Many of our people back home in Sudan are expecting much from us, because we the Chollo who are in Diaspora have more opportunities which they do not have. I believe we as a community have a moral duty and responsibility to deliver to brothers and sisters who are in needs.
If we are real proud to be Chollo with dignity then I suggest and challenge you to prove to our brothers and sisters who are in desperate needs for our help in the United States by making your generous contribution of $ 50.00 each under slogan “Relief Effort for Pothi Chollo Floods Disaster.” If we are really serious concerns and willing to commitment ourselves about the suffering we are talking about. You can do so by contacting Fashodo Community Association in the United States leader Mr. Jalpan or any member of Chollo executive committee that you are willing to make your contribution of $50.00 toward Relief Effort for Pothi Chollo Floods Disaster. I would like to see your response before the end of this week if we are really concern and serious about the suffering our people, otherwise it is shameful for us to continue discussing the suffering our people are facing without making generous financial commitment contribution toward their suffering. Thanks for your concern and your generous gifts for Pothi Chollo floods disaster relief effort. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity?

thankgiving celebration has extended to others countries as a communal celebration in which people display their gratitude through prayer, hymns, gift giving and give thank to God for all the blessings and material possessions He has poured on us. I don't think it will contradicted the meaning of the event if we remember the victims of Jabaleen in this occasion. At the same time it will be a great opportunity for gift giving to those who are in need as brother Jwothab mentioned about those who have victimized by the flood in Chollo areas.

Thanks you very much Mr. Jwothab Othow for being concerns about Chollo suffering. Weeks ago, One of our brother from Canada phone me, and asked if there is anything or action had been taken by Chollo community in united States of America. Real what ring in my mind is that all of us care about Chollo properties been destroy by severe flood in Chollo land. Like houses, crops, livestock and human lives itself. But the question is, who is to be blame for the fact that Chollo in diaspora ignored disaster that had devastated chollo properties? All Chollo sons and daughters are responsible for the action. Moreover, we have lack of information, therefore no any an action have been taken so far. And actually it is a duty for an administration office responsibility to alert the disaster,if they didn't then they are ones to be blame for failed to past the message on to the Chollo community members.

Let us not turn a thansgiving day into a mourning day of bitter past of Jabaleen massacre of innocent collo blood. Let us not turn it also to be a day of sorrow for the victims of floods in Pothi Collo. Let us separate things and deal with them correctly in their proper occassions. Let those who propose that we assist the victims of flood not do it as a comment but a separate proposal and we can do something about it rather than blaming our people in US diaspora. So please do not hide behind somebody's ideas. Come up openly and indpendently with your constructive ideas and people will be willing to appreciate and support it.

I really would like to give thanks to Brother Enoch Daniel Aba who at first brought up the issues of thanksgiving and his best wishes for all of us during Thanksgiving Day. I believe that community is build based on collective ideas and I do not see anything wrong if I suggest or appeal to our people here in Diaspora using thanksgiving occasion to give a gifts to the victims of flood disaster in Pothi Chollo. Now tell me where I did hide behind anybody ideas here. I have made my suggestion or appeal clear and open to the people of goodwill to give a gift to our brothers and sisters who are in needs in Pothi Chollo. I do not know why James Okuk always against anything good for Chollo? Don’t you see my suggestion or appeal being post on top as separate from my comments when you made your comments? What is wrong with it if we can use thanksgiving occasion to appeal to our people in Diaspora to give a gifts to the floods disaster victims in Pothi Chollo? Look James, if you are becoming a trouble maker and anti-Chollo on this website then it is not difficult for Chollo deal with you. I have been patiently watching you all along on this website with your arrogant and deviant behavior and how destructive you are for the Unity and future of Chollo society. You seemed to behavior like those who have chosen to work against Chollo society because of their egocentric and Self-center. They do not want to see others Chollo to be successful fearing that they will be challenge for their wrongdoing. They just want to be on top of everything alone and they don’t want any Ochollo to rise up. If that is same mentality you have, then you are not going to have peace in Chollo society at all. It is shameful that you will soon get your PHD which you have been boasting about with this kind of deviant behavior and anti-Chollo society. I thank God that you made people aware of your intention in Chollo society through your writing on this website. My ideas behind this was to challenge ourselves in this thanksgiving occasion where we all seem to agree to celebrate thanksgiving and give thanks to God who has given us everything and to extent what God has given to us to give a gift to our people who are in needs in Pothi Chollo. Is it a bad thing to do? My suggestion or appeal to Chollo in the United States was because almost it has been three months since the floods deaster took place in Pothi Chollo yet nothing has been done. I thought thanksgiving would be a good opportunity to suggestion or appeal to our people since we acknowledged giving thanks to God for what He has given us and give a gift to those who are in needs If we are really concerns about our people then let’s be generous to give a gift to brothers and sisters who are still in needs in Pothi Chollo since we acknowledged in our comments that we have our brothers and sisters who have been victimized by flood disaster. Now tell me Mr. Okuk what is wrong with that, if you are not a greedy person who does not wish good things for others?

what a surprise! while some people are trying to do their best of using this website for the advencement of entire community, others are driven by arrogance to look down on their writings & comments. it would be better not to write any comment than to write a meaningless comment that will not build us up as a community.what Mr/ Enoch has written about thankgiving day and Mr/ Jwothab has appealled to Chollo in USA in relation to that occasion, will not at all contradicted the spirit of thankgiving day, as I put it in my comment above. it is clear that some want to be the only people who will use this website as the best people and only contributers and work to look down on others contribution. Lastly I can say that with a little more courage, we could get ourselves into a lot more trouble.

Thanksgiving meals are traditionally family events where certain kinds of food are served. As is evidenced by the tremendous level of travel, significant effort is made by family members to gather for the Thanksgiving celebration. Family participation is notably inclusive ranging from the very youngest to the most senior. First and foremost, turkey is the featured item in most Thanksgiving feasts (so much so that Thanksgiving is sometimes facetiously referred to as "Turkey Day
