"It is over, whether John Garang fought for South or liberation of Sudan" Says President Al Bashir, who was talking to the accompanying journalists while on board the plane, on home trip, was quoted in one of the Sudan vision daily news letter. The President described Salva Kiir Mayardit, the First Vice President and president of the governenment of southern Sudan as a "unionist, contrary to what others used to label him as a secessionist."
"Salva Kiir is not a secessionist, and his differences with the late Garang were over whether they were fighting for South Sudan or the liberation of Sudan," said President Al Bashir.
The comment made by the president of the republic of Sudan should ring some tones in every southern Sudanese mind with regard to the current acrimony between the south and the NCP led government in Khartoum. The president of the Sudan didn't only put by his remarks the aspirations of southern Sudan and the rest of the marginalized people of Sudan not to mention the CPA under questioning, but also proved that whatever the Late John Garang, has fought for is over.
The president Albashir went on praising the vice president of the republic and the
president of the government of southern Sudan and chairman of the SPLA/M. Mr. Salva Kiir Miardid that he is a unionist. Of course the SPLM ?s ideology is based on the national interest of the Sudanese people regardless of race, religion, and
geographical part of the country, and if that ideology is to be implemented that
would mark the birthday of the New Sudan. And that ideology has caused nearly 2
million lives of innocent southern Sudanese God bless their souls, and displaced
more than 4 millions in the last war fought between north and the south from
1983-2005.
The signing of the comprehensive peace agreement (CPA) in January 2005 has raised some hopes in Sudan that a negotiable peace between the north and the south was possible to be true. But in the resent weeks things have gone far be on ordinary as some major parts of that agreement were being violated or not being implemented at all, and as a results the signatory partners of this agreement the SPLM and NCP started accusing each other of violation or foot dragging in CPA implementation.
But as to the remarks made by Albashir "Salva Kiir is not a secessionist, and his
differences with the late Garang were over whether they were fighting for South
Sudan or the liberation of Sudan" I would like to make some analyses on this
remarks. Did Salva Kiir Miardid take the oath to be the vice president because he is
a unionist? Or dose all SPLM members in the government of National Unity have to be unionist in order for them to occupy those posts? Or is Albashir or his media making this allegation to keep the public entertained while they plan the best way to assassinate Salva Kiir, and after they successfully do so they would celebrate his
death, crown him a national hero, and blame his death on secessionist southerners
like they did with many southern leaders before. If the president of the republic of
Sudan mar. Albashir doesn't have any idea of what the SPLM is all about I think it
is the duty of the SPLM to educate him about the principle of the SPLM just because
he is one of our compatriot. And if the NCP media doesn't know what the SPLM is all
about let me phrase this. The SPLM was political wing of a military organization and
now it is a well transformed recognized political party in Sudan. It is not a
southern party, nor is it a northern too. The SPLM is an ideology, its main
objectives is freedom and equality to all Sudanese.
Under no circumstances, any constitutional right should the president of Sudan speak of any differences if there was any between honorable late John Garang and Salva Kiir as this is doing nothing but rubbing poison in Salva Kiir?s hands, then
southern people should take caution on how to greet their president. And as to
whether they were fighting for South Sudan or the liberation of Sudan is over, well
it is not over yet Mr. President and please do not elude from the truth if you
recognize the SPLM as a partner in the Government of National Unity. And alleging
that whether the Sudan People Liberation Movement was fighting for the south the
liberation of Sudan is obsolete, that's in itself a violation of the Comprehensive
Peace Agreement CPA. Maybe the SPLM didn't fight for southern Sudan as you may think but the CPA dose articulate the case of the south to be decided by vote in the year 2011 on whether to secede or remain in the united Sudan and that unity will not be attractive without the demands of the people of southern Sudan, Blue Nile, and the Nuba Mountain been met and that is what the CPA is all about. John Garang maybe dead but the SPLA/M and the aspirations of the marginalized people of Sudan and southern Sudan in particular, and the CPA are animate.
And whether the vice president, and the president of the Government of Southern
Sudan, and the chairman of south Sudan army is a unionist! That will be reasoned in
the forthcoming article.
