Feeder Airlines Fokker 50 (ST-NEX) off the runwayA Feeder Airlines Fokker 50, registration ST-NEX performing flight FDD-360 from Juba to Wau (Sudan) with 52 people on board, landed on Wau's runway 09 but veered left off the runway and came to a stop off the runway with the nose and left main gear collapsed at about 09:45L (06:45Z). The aircraft was evacuated. One occupant received serious, 4 minor injuries.

The hospital reported 5 people had been taken to the hospital, one flight attendant broke her leg during evacuation, 4 other occupants received minor injuries.

The airport reported that the first part of runway 09 was closed due to work in progress. The crew had been advised to land about halfway down the 2800 meters/9200 feet long runway.

A passenger reported the aircraft had gone around on the first approach, the crew however did not announce why the approach was aborted.

Sources within the airline reported that there was no NOTAM indicating the work in progress to resurface the runway and tower did not advise about the work in progress, too. Due to the slope of the runway it was impossible to see the workers on the runway in time. Such a mishap was expected since the work began about 3 months ago.
