SPLM PB is Hoodwinking Southerners: Referendum is Already Postponed

This is just politics of sugarcoating while the real bitter realities are hidden beneath the surface. The census and elections experience is still fresh in minds of the critical people who don't like dishonesty.
For example, the Census was conducted despite the statement from the SPLM and GOSS that it will not take place before the issue of religion and ethnicity is resolved. Yasser Arman and the whole Northern Sector were withdrawn from elections race despite the SPLM PB statement that SPLM shall participate in the elections at all levels, including the national presidency. Not only this but Salva Kiir and many SPLM leaders voted for Al-Bashir when they were vocal that he is an ICC convict who deserve to be behind bars rather than ruling the Sudan, and etc.
But the rope of a lie is very short. Let wait and see how practical this statement of the SPLM PB will hold water before it runs under the bridge sooner as the 9th January 2011 pass with nothing happening for the timely conduct of the referendum. Let's not deceive ourselves.
As far as I know the referendum is already postponed for either six or one year as far as the implementation of the remaining parts of the CPA are concerned and in relation to the 2009 Southern Sudan Referendum Act.
The future is not very far to expose the dubiousness and hoodwinking of the innocent public by both the SPLM and NCP Machiavellian politicians and power-hungary human beings. Let me prepare my eyes for tears of sorrow when what the SPLM PB says here becomes contradicted in very near future as the very SPLM leaders will tolerate postponement of Referendum of the people of Southern Sudan.

For those who can read Arabic,This is very interesting and I love the stand of Southerners as a bloc within the Referendum Commission. The truth about the troubles being created for the referendum is coming out slowly to caste away the lies.

اتهموا رئيسها خليل بتعمد تعطيلهاالخرطوم: الشرق الاوسط: فايز الشيخ
تفجرت الصراعا بين أعضاء مفوضية استفتاء جنوب السودان من الجنوبيين ورئيس المفوضية محمد إبراهيم خليل. وكشف أعضاء مفوضية استفتاء جنوب السودان الخمسة المنحدرين من الجنوب، عن شبه جمود يكتنف عمل المفوضية وأن الزمن يتسرب من بين يديها، وأشاروا إلى أن المفوضية لم تفعل شيئا منذ 25 يوما، واتهموا رئيسها، خليل بتعمد تعطيل اجتماعات المفوضية، في وقت أكدوا فيها أن مرشح الأمانة العامة الذي يريده رئيس المفوضية كان قد تسبب في فشل استفتاء جبهة البوليساريو في الصحراء.
وحسب مصادر مغربية قالت لـ«الشرق الأوسط» إن صلاح عمر كان أحد الموظفين التابعين للأمم المتحدة في لجان تحديد هوية الناخبين الصحراويين.. وهي ذات مهام فنية بحتة».
وأوصى الأعضاء الجنوبيون في مذكرة حصلت «الشرق الأوسط» على نسخة منها القيادة السياسية للجنوب بالضغط على المؤتمر الوطني لتعيين أمين عام من الجنوب، أو إجبار رئيس المفوضية على الاستقالة حال رفضه، على أن يحل محله نائبه، لحين إيجاد بديل، ولفت نظر دول الإيقاد، لما يجري، وتوفير الإمكانات لمكتب استفتاء الجنوب.
وانتقد أعضاء المفوضية الجنوبيون في مذكرة إصرار رئيس المفوضية على تعيين صلاح عمر الشيخ أمينا عاما للمفوضية، زاعما أنه السوداني الوحيد المؤهل للمنصب، وأبانوا أنهم أسقطوا بالتصويت المرشحين صلاح الشيخ وصلاح الدين بابكر، الأمر الذي أثار حفيظة رئيس المفوضية، ومنع ترشيح اسمين من جنوب السودان هما (عابدون أقاوا ولورنس كورباندي)، معتبرا أنهما ليسا مؤهلين للمنصب، وأنه لن يعمل معهما لعدم قناعته بقسمة السلطة والتوازن بين الشماليين والجنوبيين.
ووصف الأعضاء الجنوبيون خليل بـ«الديكتاتور والمتصلب في المواقف»، وأشار الأعضاء الجنوبيون إلى فشل مرشح الأمانة العامة، عمر الشيخ إبان تعيينه نائبا لرئيس بعثة الأمم المتحدة ومشرفا على استفتاء تقرير المصير في الصحراء وحذروا من تعرض استفتاء الجنوب لمصير استفتاء الصحراء ذاته، وأبدى الأعضاء خشيتهم من أن يكون خليل (مخلب قط) للإجهاز على الاستفتاء وحملوه مسؤولية إهدار الوقت، وأبدوا ثقتهم في إمكانية إجراء الاستفتاء فيما بقى من وقت لانتفاء التعقيدات أسوة بالانتخابات.
وقال الأعضاء إن رئيس المفوضية، الدكتور إبراهيم، عبر في مناسبة أو مناسبتين مختلفتين عن وجهة نظره الرافضة لحق تقرير المصير لشعب جنوب السوران، وقال «إن السبب الذي يدعوه للرفض أن حق تقرير المصير يجب أن يعطى للشعوب المستعمرة»، وطبقا للبروفيسور خليل فإن الجنوب ليس مستعمرة، لذلك لا يستحق هذا الحق.
وحسب الأعضاء فإن خليل قال لأعضاء المفوضية إنه كتب ونشر مقالا عن هذا الموضوع في الماضي، بين فيه رفضه أعضاء شعب جنوب السودان حق تقرير المصير.
وقال الأعضاء الجنوبيون: على القيادة السياسية لجنوب السودان أن تمارس دورها القيادي وتنفذ مشيئتها السياسية بأن تتولى بنفسها عملية الاستفتاء، لأن إجراء العملية بنجاح، وفي وقتها المحدد يقع في صلب مصالح جنوب السودان
